EC is pretty cool if you liked the cartridge version (I've only played the CD one once, and drunk...)
I have no idea about emulation of sonic CD since I don't have nor care about that game
as for .mp3, if you are running it in a fatty emulator that can play them that way, I'm sure they need to be named something particular (like 'track 1' or 'sonicCD1' or something)
or convert to .wav and burn a CD according to the faqs (which I've not done, I got timegal to try out, and I didn't really feel like mapping my controller so I used the arrow keys, and got screwed when I needed to press 'the button' cause I had no idea where it was...)
I ran the ISO of shining force CD back in the day, and then burned several discs with the music and on the fifth try, the disc booted and played, but that was back when sound emulation on SegaCD wasn't there, so there was no way to tell if it was even reading the music
I lost track of the CD that worked so I can't even test it now! d'oh!
that site that was mentioned here has them in .cdi format so that's nice (that means the music is there already...usually...)
