A typical work day for me? Well, to me, that would have to include my commute, so here goes.

5:15am Leave the house, en route to a 'carpool'.
5:30am Leave with my carpool (2 people are still a carpool I suppose).
6:15am Arrive at work.
6:30am-3:00pm Pack orders.

This consists of:

Driving around on a towmotor
Pulling boxes off the shelves which weigh between 1 and 80 lbs.
Assembling parts
Filling out the appropriate paperwork
Putting up with idiot co-workers who always get in the way
Shrink wrapping the orders
Loading/unloading trucks

3:00pm Leave work.
3:50pm Get back to my car.
4:05pm Get home.

This is my summer schedule, things get more complex when I have classes to worry about.

Work sucks, and I need a new job.

It's a little unnerving that you would have everything scheduled on the dot. Is that an American thing or is that just you? :P

Just me. I like to be right on time, and I don't like to spend a second more than I have to at work or commuting.

It's actually very necessary for me to have everything scheduled right on the dot when I have to worry about making it to classes during the fall and spring. I don't have much margin for error since my commute is about an hour long.

I'm the same way. Work is an hour away so I have to leave extra early just to make sure I'm at work on time. But then, I never had such a high regard for time. I should probably change that.

I work for the government. Yes its shit and I hate it.

I'd like to open up my own business. An internet and gaming cafe where people can come and play on networked Xboxes and PS2s and stuff on fat squashy sofas with big widescreen LCD TVs and play against their mates.

Towards the back of the shop I'd have 10-16 PCs so people can either surf the net or hack eachother to bits in Half Life 2 or Doom3 and stuff like that.

Id also have a coffee machine and would sell cups for a quid a go.

Careful Haze, you might attract the wrong crowd....

That would be ideal although I somehow have the sinking feeling that if you ever opened a shop of that caliber, you wouldn't make any profits. All your customers would be pre-pubescent boys who would have to ask Mommy and Daddy to pay for them. Heh.

Now back to the question at hand!

You'd take money in the same way a web cafe does. Certain amount for the first hour and whatever for every hour after that. A timer installed on the machines would switch them off after a certain amount of time.

If you were really nervous about it you could ask how long they plan to pay and get the lot up front.

I wouldnt want to own an arcade, those places really do attract the wrong crowds. Them and those funny chinese dancing fellows on their beatmania machines. Arcades are noisy too, Im not into noise.

My local must of stopped attracting even the tossers, it shut down recently and turned into one those upmarket kitchenware/DIY shops that stock all those useless novelty gardening tools you see on TV.
