Did not read the whole article, but if it did not mention it; the pest is now dead. They went after it with airguns. They probably should have tried to capture it.

if you take a non indigenous mammal and shoot it full of steroids, and unleash it, since it can't forcefully mate (or mate at all) it will basically just get violent as all hell and lash out all the time

anyway, at OSU, we have an annual story about students feeding squirrels to the point where they EXPECT to get grub, and then it goes about one eating chips or popcorn or something and tossing a few each day, and then one day not having any food, so they jump and attack/bite the student in an effort to get at the food they think is there
