Netfirms...

Postby Reign on Sun Jul 29, 2001 12:23 pm

I noticed in the news post somewhere near the bottom of the page that this board used to be hosted on Netfirms. I signed up for Netfirms and tried to install my ubb on it, but I'm not sure where to put the noncgi files, as the only reasonable place seems to be the www directory and that doesn't work.

Basically, I can't get any of the images to show up on the ubb because the noncgi files are in the wrong place. At least that's what I think.

Do any of you have the solution to my prob?

Everything has to be in the www directory as that is where the cgi-bin is as well. The images have to be in a ubb folder outside of the cgi-bin.

I was experiencing numerous script errors with Netfirms and it was all on their end. I ended up pulling a board off of their servers because 90% of the time people couldn't get to it.

LOL That's actually where I found out about netfirms. Sadly, Netfirms seems to be the best out of all of them.
Thanks guys.

I suggest you install Ikonboard instead, it is free and tailor made for Unix systems. But how can you stand Netfirms?? Popups on every single page, shit advert at the top used to drive me crazy.

I think Freedom To Surf (f2s.com or something) have full CGI access and still no ads.

One more point, why join an emu board to ask about CGI shit? You could have e-mailed me or something. Damn I don't like deleting members as it screws the numbers up.

The Ikonboard at Netfirms never seems to have problems. Then again, it is rarely used.
