Planning on buying MGS2?

Postby Megaman X on Wed Nov 14, 2001 11:12 pm

Just got back from Electronics Boutique and I actually got Metal Gear Solid 2 AND the hint book for a grand total of $15 US.

That's right, FIFTEEN DOLLARS!

They are having a special where you trade in two PS2 games that are on their list and you get MGS2 for $7.99.

The guy told me it was supposed to end this weekend so run like hell to the store if you want this game.

that's a decent deal if you have PS2 games you don't want anymore (and are on the list...)

since I'm not due to get my own PS2 for another year, I will probably buy the bargain bin USED version, or just d/l it...

I never trade my games in and never will.

EB over here suck for that sort of thing. THey give you like £8 off another game for trade in and then sell your old game for £30-£35 which is only £5-£10 cheaper than a brand new game. Fucking cheek of it!!

I refuse to do it on principal. Depreciation on games is no way that steep!!

Plus I love collecting games. I even keep the boxes and all the other crap for them but that only really applies to PC games that come with a massive box and a tiny CD rattling about inside.

My mate reccomended I trade in SSX when I get SSX Tricky. Heh, no fucking way!! I love a fat collection and will keep all the consoles I own forever. I'm thinking fo going up to HMV in London soon to pick myself up a SNES. I sure wish they would bring the Megadrive back out again since those old games play and look so much nicer on a TV.

True....it does make it a better deal if you already want to get rid of two games. That was the case for me so it was a sweet deal.

PS2/DVD boxes are about the best. Tough and not too big. DC boxes are shit. THey are just too brittle.

Euro dc boxes are way bigger than the US ones.Their like the old double cd cases you used to get, really bulky and likely to smash up if you breathe on it.

But fuck all that,i just got Guilty Gear X
Damned pirates arnt trustworthy but at least i dont need to spend 3-5 hours d/l- ing stuff.

Yeah I forgot to mention that the euro boxes are the chunky ones. I used to buy games and often find a crack in the cover of the box before I even got the bastard home.

As I take my DC with me to a lot of places I now use a couple of CD carry cases. The zip up kind with the soft wallets inside.

What did you think of GGX jurucyber? I found it a bit hard to get into as a SF fan.

I use those zip up cases for all my cd's.... PC games/apps, audio, and I desperately need to get another one for my DC games. Right now I'm keeping them on spindles

you have HMV over there in the UK too? by any chance do you know what HMV stands for?

EB is the same here, a used game will only be 5 bucks less than the brand new copy. Like wtf? That's EB for ya though. I avoid their stores like the plauge.

Anyone in Canada should check out Wal-Mart for Metal Gear, I think it's around 65 - 70 bucks at their stores.

Wow, first Zep shows back up, now you Shin... but I think Zep's taken off again Image

Anyway, yeah. People that sell used games are usually scamming both the person that gave up the game and the person who buys it again. They make a killing.

HMV used to stand for His Masters Voice. An old record company. Remember the dog listening to an old gramaphone, was the logo.

Well mostly I've been playing GTA3 and SSX Tricky which both kick ass!!

Gonna get Devil May Cry soon, THPS3 off the missus for Christmas and maybe Jak & Daxter after that.

Bomberman on the DC is pretty cool too.

A friend of mine has MGS2, I watched him play it for about 20 minutes. I guess if you like the first game you'll like this one.

They both look the same to me, with obvious graphic improvements.

Hey Shin, i think you'll find that HMV was out along time before RCA. They did make gramaphones.
