Hahaha my ISP troubles are over. I CAN get DSL, I just had to be sneaky about it.

If I change the prefix of my phone number it will be served out of a different central office; a CLOSER central office. I just tried looking up availability with a different phone number and it's good!

My city has a couple of different CO's, and I don't think there will be a problem changing to the new number.

a big FUCK YOU to SBC Ameritech for not suggesting this to people.

Sounds promising, hope it works out. I am getting very sick of this connection as of late as I have too much to download.

SBC ameritech was sued by Columbus (the city!) for the people because their service was so shitty

in fact, they had to give up americast, ther cable television supply company! ahahaha! dunno how that fixes their shitty phone service, though

and WOW (wideopenwest) is basically just another name for amerigraph...same frickin employees, I thnk it was just a subsidiary that nobody knew about so ameritech could keep the power...
cause their service still sucks all the way around (better to have sucky service that often works than to pay the 400 I owe to Time/Warner...hehehe)

now you will be able to leech with the masters...
maybe you get a dynamic IP with DSL, too
which is something I miss, being that my firewall is always reaching it's maximum alert amounts early in the day from all the freakin Kazaa users pinging me...honestly, a filesharing service that assigns it's own 'magic number' would be nice, so if you aren't running the service you can't be pinged so fuckin much!

I use Lite too.

less filling, great taste?

Postby Pdaimaoh on Thu Dec 05, 2002 6:35 am

I also use lite, but that doesn't matter

if someone locks onto a file you have and they don't get the whole thing before you go offline from kazaa, you will be pinged a LOT by their kazaa trying to re-establish the connection

tie that in with the fact that I do share a lot of warez and some porn, and you see that I'm being pinged way too many times in a minute...

in less than two minutes, my current log is full with people trying to get to port 1214 or whatever is the kazaa port

So this continues after you have logged out of kazaa and switched it off?

yep

Postby Pdaimaoh on Thu Dec 05, 2002 4:54 pm

I left kazaa on all night, then it snowed badly and I'm pissed at work so I called to be in late, I got up again a bit ago, and just now shut it off, tried to go online but got a VXD problem, so I reastarted my system less than three minutes ago...

..let me check the log

..yep, it's full

now, it's 10:54 here...

fuck it, it's still 10:54 and there are over 36 log entries since I just cleared it

man that sucks

basically, if you cut someone off during a d/l while you are still on kazaa, sit there and watch how quickly it tries to reconnect
cut it off again, and watch again

that's about how fast it's going per IP

this continues after I remove all files from sharing, to a different unmarked directory

it's the nature of the service, but I still think it'd be better if they assigned a fake IP so you don't get slammed while not on the service
