Tools you might need:

Phillips screwdriver
Wire cutter
Dremel and cutting discs
4" nylon wire ties
Electrical tape
Self-adhering wire tie anchors
Die, tap, and drill

God damn! You even have to cut and thread your own screw holes!! LMAO!

Fuck me!

I've seen some hardcore do-it-yourself PC projects in my time, but never anything as mad as that. Building a computer from propietry parts that arnt even meant to available outside of factory-built machines is bloody ludicrous.

Mr.T pitys the fool who builds his own Mac.

I wonder how much cheaper it really can be and also whether the cheapness out-weighs the time and effort spend doing it?

It probably is a bit cheaper, but I wouldent think that its worth the effort and hassle of acquiring the parts and bodgeing it all together.

Its not like you cant get Macs in decent cases anymore, the proper ones still come in those tower cases even if most of the others come in those stupid tarty designer ones.

Yeah the G4 case is a real beauty. Those big handles to carry it about with so you dont have to grow your nails and jam them under the edges of the case at the front and back just to move it. Also when you open it up the whole MB comes out on the door for excellent access for upgrading. Shame standard PC towers arnt like that.

Strange you should say that, I got a box for my new PC today and it does almost exactly that.

Instead of having to unscrew anything, there are car door style handles on the side of those box that you pull to open the side panels which are hinged at the bottom. The side that you screw the motherboard to actually takes part of the back-end with it as well so you dont have to remove the cards before you can properly get at the board.

Got it at PC World of all places. They may be overpriced bastards most of the time, but you can get some cool shit in there sometimes. Heres the manufacturers website, check out the pictures at the bottom of the page - http://www.jeantech.com/1.atx_tower/butterfly.htm
