HP Superstore CD-RW,24x read,4x write and
4x rewrite.
£60.
Or:
SAMSUNG CD-RW 8832,dosent mention the specs but comes with 50 free blank CR-Rs.
£99.99.

Ive used cheapo peripherals before, and they
caused nothing but trouble.

No, it's not worth it. If you are going to spend money spend it on something that has some quality to it otherwise you will find yourself buying the product over again (another similar product because the first one you bought sucked). And no because 4x write is so slow, wait a couple of months and you should see some better deals.

I got a 12x10x32x with 50 CD-Rs for £140 which seemed like a pretty good deal to me considering the £100 ones were considerably slower and came with no CDs.

If you're burning audio, you won't want to burn it that fast anyway, because it will cause all sorts of glitches in your cds.

Almost any old thing will do for data cd's, which aren't as picky because data cd-roms hold error correction information (from what I've heard)
