I had to post that at Geoshock of all places yesterday. I was pissed off and had to share it with others!

Still am pissed off. What a piece of shit.

Any ideas on how to get IE 6 out of XP which has IE 6 by default? I want IE 5.5 damn it!

You can't remove IE6 from XP, it's fully integrated... (part of the reason I stayed with Windows 2000 Pro)

I tried sticking IE5 (from an Office 2000 CD) onto my bro's XP computer, but it said that there was a newer version of IE already installed and it never gave me the option to put it on anyways... all I could do was click OK.

Same here, I tried putting IE 5 in and it gave me that message.

There's gotta be something I can do in the registry that will let me put IE 5 in.

I'm seriously considering enabling the system restore feature in XP and then screwing around with registry keys that include IE 6. That way if I fuck something up I can just go back (in theory)

I've said it before and I'll say it again. System restore has saved my arse a few times now. I dont use the windows one since I have 98 still but I use Goback which is enabled from just after the memory check is completed. Most handy if windows blows up and you cant load it.

did you all pay for Windows XP?

ohh... and hello

I know I been away for the past 7 or 8 months now, but I thought i would come back and show my face.

I been spending my time at http://www.deviantart.com which is a fantazmagorical site. check me out at zep.deviantart.com because i rule. If you do graphics or WHATEVER go check it out.

I kinda lost interest in emulation, although I did download MSHvsSF which damn cool.

Good to see you. I've been to that site before and it's pretty cool, alot of people recomend it when others are searching for backgrounds and stuff. I got my copy free from a Microsoft roadshow.

Hey Zep nice to see you around again. Took a look round the site, and liked what I saw. Got any more of that high quality art lying round the place? I have made no more submissions since that time ago, which reminds me that Rommy gave me some a while back...

I'm thinking of getting a "super demo elite" version of the home version of XP. I dunno where I could get one and I don't know if it's worth it. I'm using Windows Me at the mo which is running great. I heard that I would need the Win ME CD to install XP (even the super downloadable demo version). that true?

I'll tell you all that I know about it:

I downloaded the 'corporate version' of Windows XP Pro (supposedly). What everyone says in the warez 'scene' about that is that it's a version meant for schools and businesses and it doesn't have the activation crap.

Believe as much of that as you want. I personally think that it's just a cracked Windows XP.

So, I downloaded the ISO from a public ftp, I found a serial (if you need it I'll email it to you, just ask) and I burned it then installed it.

When I installed it all I did was start Windows 98 SE and put my WinXP disc in. It autoran and I set it up just like you would set up any other version of Windows. It never asked me for any CD's, the only one I ever used during setup was the XP disc.

Sorry, I don't have the ftp address where I got it anymore, I'm not sure of any others where you could download it, either. I'm sure you could look around and find one easily, or depending on your connection speed maybe you could use Direct Connect.

I found it man, private ftp. The first time I checked it wasn't busy, I just checked now and it was.

ftp://alliance:alliance@monkey.servebeer.com:21

Good luck, I hope you can get in fairly easily. Max 10 users. Non-ratio as of right now... hopefully the guy will keep it that way until you get what you need.

i think that just means the pro version.

are the drivers and features still the same as the home version cause that's the one i was hoping to get.

What exactly is bad about IE 6 ?
If it's any more crash prone as IE 5.5 then i wont bother.

IE 6 hasn't crashed yet for me, but I don't think it's due to the fact that IE 6 is good. I know that's not true. It must be because XP is stable.
