What ISP are you on? I also remember you saying that you dont have a router so it cant be the hardware firewall there blocking you. That was the problem I had...

If you are using a firewall, try this... and I know people dont like doing this but switch that mofo off and give it a few minutes to filter through. If that makes a difference and you can suddenly download faster (just use 1 torrent too for more accurate results) then you know its your firewall.

Looks like the connections patch for XP made no difference. Have you tried a single torrent with something like Bit Tornado to gauge the speeds?

As a last ditch attempt at help you could fully outline your problem and either post it at that forum Im having an illicit affair with or let me know and I'll pretend its my problem and post for you.

If its not your ISP then we really have to get to the bottom of this problem. If it turns out that it IS your ISP then switch that mofo over to something else because that just plain sucks.

30kb on a 2mbit connection!! I'd expect that if I had 3 other torrents doing that speed too but generally I get over 100kb on most torrents most of the way through.

It really is quite weird, sometimes I can get upto 100kbps and other times it can be between 30-60, but on the heavily seeded torrents I'm pretty ure I should be getting max speed. I have tried EVERY suggestion possible from lots of forums and tweak sites. It may well be the tracker (Demonoid) but I don't think so

Picked up Q4, COD2 and FEAR today so I anticipate little sleep this week. Typical game industry, bugger all worth buying for 6 months and then 3 FPS games at once and a load of DS stuff about to make it into the shops as well.

On a related note, I D/Led Battlefront 2 over the weekend and its just as shit as the first one.

The big plot twist in Quake 4 that everyone was talking about, is it that you have to be turned into a strogg to fight them? If it is then its a pretty sucky twist considering its written all over the box and in the manual.

Go to torrentspy and search for 'Cool Edit' grab the most popular torernt there and try it with Bit Tornado with firewall off.

True true but it doesnt bother her so I've just left it hahaha

Basically it comes from being lazy and downloading stuff. When I cant be bothered to look for a folder to put everything I just click the desktop button and download it to there. Then I unzip it and have the unzipped folder there too and so on. Eventually you get cluttered but you have to remember it didnt look even half that bad before when it was on my 19" monitor. For some reason the other monitor wont support a 1280x1024 resolution so I had to put it to 1024x768 which made everything all fat and take up loads of space.

Tried it and got speed of 160kbps+ with my firewall ON. That means I must be with the shitest Torrent Tracker in the world ever +3.

So now that we've resolved that. Try thepiratebay.com because they have great seeders and I regularly get great speeds on the healthy torrents.

Main sites I use are torrentspy, piratebay and demonoid last of all. If I cant find what I want on any of those then I forget it.

I must say though Demonoid is good for Reason Refills and other music apps.

Battlefront is the crappy Battlefield clone, Empire at War is the RTS and that isn't out until next year.

yeah, I hear it's pretty popular, I might look it up.

Its a team based online FPS. All voice based too with each squad member being able to contact their superior who in turn contacts his superior and there a guy on each side with a view of the whole game area who can drop supplies and air assaults and things. Sounds like a great concept.

Its one of those you'll have to buy to play online unless there are lots of cracked servers out there.
