I don't know why but I seem to be looking forward to it. As far as I know you need quite a bit of ram and a beefy graphics card because there are lots of "visuals".

.....but "Longhorn"??

Hopefully these graphics enhancements are similar to the expose effects present in mac OSX because those things rock. Nothing quite like have a ton of windows open and being able to see them all with the press of a key then just clicking on the one you want. On the other hand, if they don't add any functionality i imagine i will turn them off much like i did with the new stuff in winxp.

found this cool program:

http://www.smartbarxp.com/

it's a pretty nifty tool with loads of functions much like that in Longhorn which works in XP, but I like it mainly for the eye candy!

uses only about 20MB RAM!

Haha naked desktop

I think you'd probably cry if you saw mine. Its icon city.

I do ok with that though, I know where everything is and dont really need to keep an eye on my system usage.
I dont really have enough RAM as it is without having more of it used up on something like that.

Oh for a more powerful PC!!! Woe is me! lol

Interesting choice of wallpaper you have there. Almost looks like the Jolly Green Giant's arse crack! LMAO!!

Shit, Longhorn is just another excuse to beef up your system or buy a new one. It wil have a 3d rotating desktop and will be a browserless yes browserless OS in which you will use your taskbar as a webtool..

Whats the point in having a rotating desktop?!

Will it be like a cube with a different desktop on each side of the cube or something?!

Whats the fucking point man?! Get a new PC and its reduced to the power of your previous shit machine because your OS has eaten up all the resources!!

I Imagine it's leading to the NEXT edition of Windows (2008) which will have a totaly 3D feel like in the movie Minority Report. That would be cool.

Browserless? Isn't MS going to ship LH with IE7?

You can get beta software which will turn your XP desktop into a 'rotating 3d' desktop like Longhorn.

And yes, MS says the next IE won't be integrated into the OS. We'll see to what extent they hold to that statement.

IE 7 is supposed to be out this summer, but MS is rarely on time with release dates.

Is that what Avalon is? I nearly installed it but I read on some forums it is not very stable.
