Burning across network

Postby Silverhaze on Fri Feb 04, 2005 10:44 am

Just a quick question.

Most of you probably know that one of my PCs has this problem with downloading large files. Especially zips and exe files.
They just seem to corrupt and will not unpack or run. The same thing happens when I download them on my other machine and then ship them across the network.
I have to unpack them from one machine to the other to get them to work.

Anyway, the machine that wont download is the one that has a burner on it and I was wondering if its easy enough to burn files on the burner of one machine across the network from the other machine?
I suppose it could be alright so long as I dont do it on max speed?

I was worried it might but I kind of thought that I can send information across the network at about 300kbps so if I set the burner to burn at a rate slower than that it might be ok.

Hmm, that would only be 2X. Why don't you take the burner out of the PC that can't download and put it in the one that can?

Basically the files are anything upwards of about 60-100mb corrupts.

I would take it out if I had somewhere in the other PC to put the bloody thing lol.

All the bays are taken up.

You COULD do it with a cd-drive but if its old...

Ok so if I move it to the 98 machine will I have to find some generic cd burner drivers from somewhere?
