Doom 3 is out

Postby adidas on Sun Aug 01, 2004 2:13 pm

And it's the largest number of peers I've ever seen on any one torrent

6804!

My PC probably won't be able to handle the game all too well, but I'm going to try anyway :)

/edit up to 20806 :)

Don't you have to compile your own?

i got it off usenet last night, it fucking rocks. one of the best FPS games i've played in awhile. feels more Resident Evil than Doom with all the scary shit jumping out of the shadows, coming through the glass, etc.

That's what I thought too. You're fighting zombies the first time you see some action, and it's a really spooky atmosphere. Very reminiscent of RE.

If were talking about those shitty 3D fighting games, they are all in official builds anyway.

Yep you have to compile your own, don't you remember the 1amemame ones I used to roll off?

I normally get one every release from someone who compiles it with M32+, let me know if you want a copy.

Ahh, didn't see those.

Its barely worth the effort of rolling a new build for another couple of cheapo identikit NG games. If your that bothered about playing them, then you can guarantee that the halfwit SNK warez kids are downloading an infringing build from somewhere.

Edit - Beat me to it, really should check the page when I go off elsewhere half way througth a post. :D

All that just to compile mame?

DM, if it's not a big deal to compile the lame mame, I'll take it, otherwise don't worry about it. I just want to check those games out, you know, see if they are worth keeping on my hard drive;)

Heh, how did this topic turn into MAME? Yeah Ivw I can send you the builds this person makes (not much point in my doing them).

Back on to DOOMIII:

Damian, I'm going to have to try that trick tonight when I get home from work. Right now I'd classify my Doom3 performance as 'playable' which hardly makes it fun. And that's on the lowest settings possible.

Dont think I'll be bothering with a Athlon 1.6 512ram and a GeForceFX 5200.

Oh and I doubt I could download it cleanly anyway.

2200+/768/GF4-4200 is hacking it fine on Medium detail at 800x600, perfectly playable and still looks great.

Have to say i'm enjoying it much more then Far Cry, which bored the cack out of me once the novelty graphics had worn off and it turned out that it was another bloody game about rampaging genetic monkey monsters.

Its not exactly the carnage fest of the originals, but all the old Doom design traps are there and theres plenty of action to be had.
