popups

Postby Jewboy on Sun Feb 08, 2004 1:17 pm

Has anyone had a problem with popups that appear on your machine even though a browser is closed? Only things i can think of is that there is some kind of script requesting these popups or a webite knows my IP address. I installed Ad Killer which only lets one through once in a while but this has never happened before and i want to erradicate this problem. Any answers?

I've got Ad-aware Pro, Hijack This, Pest Patrol & Spybot Search and Destroy if anyone needs them.. I like Pest Patrol because it'll run in the system tray and delete the tracking cookies as they come in, and it also monitors system memory for known spyware.

Sometimes anti-virus software catches the really annoying spyware too. I have Norton, Kaspersky, Avast, McAffee & Panda anti-virus... the only one that found any spyware that I can recall was Kaspersky
