Broadband Woes #3

Again, I get screwed. The tech was here. The modem synced with the server.

He leaves, I get my wireless router... get it working. The modem no longer finds the server.

The wireless router is also fucked now for some reason, but it doesn't matter if the modem won't work.

Fuck broadband, again. I am going to call the assholes and tell them what they can do with their modem and their shit service.

Did you reset the modem after you plug in the router? Most of the modem requires you to do that in order to function properly.

Spoke too soon!

For a couple of days I was getting speeds of 150-200kB/s. Now since yesterday afternoon I've been trying to get on the net but have been completely unable (until now.) And now, my connection is c-r-a-w-l-i-n-g. (not even 10kB/s at times)

Comcast is coming out tomorrow (Sunday) to look at it.

Hopefully it's nothing too major. I've already cancelled my dial-up.

heh, when they hooked up wideopenwest, it synced and then didn't and they told me that I was running an illegal router

I asked the chick if she knew what she was talking about, and she said 'yeah, I know you're running an illegal router'
so I asked her how to explain that when I don't have a router at all...

...she said I was lying

my usual rage would flare up at something like that, but instead I told her to just send out some techies that knew what they were doing to fix the issue

turns out they were splitting the line so much that my signal was too weak, so they put some nice shit up on the pole and it fixed it all up

except I'm paying for midlevel speed, and I'm pretty consistently hitting the max of the LOWlevel speed and have never gone over...
