for some reason none of the .exe files work on my puter. the icons have just dissapeared and turned into those default shitty windows 95 white boxes and whenever i try to run one of them i get an error message.
hmm... i think things strated to go a bit funny on this machines when i downloaded a program called "zelda classic 2.0".
dya think it's a virus? i wouldn't know cause i don't have anti virus software and if i download some, i wouldn't be able to install it.

always be suspicious when u download games u never heard of..what is this "classic" game, is it a patch or a game made from scratch?
if it DID replace all ur .exe files with the win95 icons, it might be cause there is "no link" to whats suppose to open.
you might have to associate the .exe files again with the icons once more.Try doing this..from windows explorer..tools..folder options..folder types..there in the list should have the RIGHT .exe icon..

ohh, nah, the program exe's are okay, it's the installer.exe's. like when you download something (jedi knight for example) and it comes in an exe form; none of those work.

All the major virus scanner programs are available to scan your computer online. Just type in something like "online virus scan" in any search engine and you should find bunch of those. Or try some free virus scan software.

i think its alright now, i did a system restore to a few days ago.
only thing now is whenever i start windows i get the error message "windows.cmd.something is fucked up" or something.
i'll have to try what KoHC says.
what does KoHC stand for anyway?

What do the error messages say when you start windows and try to run the exe files?
So am I right in thinking its only like self extracting zips that are not working and not ALL the exes on your PC.
