God Damn!

Postby neon_sonic on Mon Apr 07, 2003 1:44 am

I don't know what the hell this is, but it's really pissing me off. Every 15 minutes or so, I keep getting these little messages popping up, offering me deals that range from lesbian pornography to deals on webcams. This isn't a normal pop-up, but something that pops up like it's a Windows error or something. I wasn't really sure what the deal with these was until it gave me a link advertising a product to stop the very messages I am recieving. The address it gave was http://www.killmessenger.com/ . This really pisses me off, seeing as my system's probably aquired some kind of virus or something that allows these messages (probably some scam to get people to buy these guys' product to solve a problem that they probably created) to pop up a lot. I already tried clearing all of my cookies with Windows Washer and scanning for viruses with Norton, but I still keep getting them.

Does anyone have any advice on how to get rid of this crap? If you don't really understand what the messages are like, click on the link. Thanks in advance for any help.

:lol:

Ahh yes. I used to get these until I downloaded the demo of a product and applied its settings. I then uninstalled it. Hopefully I'll remember the name of the program I had; if I do I'll let you know.

I'm guessing you have XP or win2k.

You need to disable the messenger service.

This should help you;

Also check your start menu and desktop for anything you dont recognise. Sometimes little progs can install themselves and cause your PC to keep connecting to these sites.

that's damn malicious, it's like they're trying to force you to buy their product. i 'd report them, nothing about that can be legal. it borders on extortion
