Looks like 3D realms have finally cougthed up the source code for Duke3D - http://www.3drealms.com/index.shtml (under the shoddy 2600 April fools joke).

With a bit of luck somebody will do a decent windows port 'ala Doom Legacy. I've already managed to get it running under XP, but decent input support and some native stability would be more then welcome.

On the topic, anyone got the Plutonium Pack upgrade? I missed it at the time and I dont particularly want to buy the atomic edition budget re-release when I already own three quarters of it.

I completed that whole game without cheating and just using the cursor keys. way before mouse look was standard place.

How the fuck did I do that?!?

Have you tried Kazaa for the pack? Probably unlikely its there since its so old.

the multiplayer is in the same lines of playing doom...doom2, u have to enter the screen to get your "mods"(edited levels) to work

last time i worked it, it was in a dos box, dunno if it still works in windowsXP

i think the plutimoum package is redone levels and some? new weapons. No biggie.. :o

from what i can remember you either use and IP connect system, or simply just dial the other persons phone number.

we should have a duke 3d PCB royal rumble.

i would destroy you all of course but it'd still be fun. 8)

alas, you poor soul..i still have some holy water left to put it out of its... :!:

HEY HEY HEY! :)

Doom was a Big BIG mulitiplayer thing in the mid 90's..so was dukem, but because of the power of the pc's back then..doom was more user-freindly(p75-90..little ram)

you can have up to 8 doom(2) players at a time, but u still need the ip address for the host server.

it was a big thing because, heh, for one, especially in college, where all the computers are linked up together, plus the shareware of doom is free(with multiplayer!!)

dukey we could only have 3 at a time though :( ,still it was alot of fun.It was even greater to get some custom mods going to..man to live like that back then( as i think about it,iskipped a class or 2 from it..oooooo)

we should get a partygame going soon,of course the persons with the largest RAM should host. With me working now  , its gettin harder to get some time-off
