Sometimes Even Console Emulation Can be Deceptive

A DC emu in the works?

Postby ivwshane on Mon Feb 18, 2002 2:44 am

I was just doing some reading at a website when I came across a news item regarding a DC emulator. The way they posted the item made it seem like the emu has been in development for a while. Anyway here is the link to the DC emu site;

DC emu

So what do you think?

A DC emu in the works?

Postby M on Mon Feb 18, 2002 2:56 am

Well, it almost looks promising. It has such a terrible name though, BOOB!Cast . I see that the screenshots that they took are win xp windows which says to me that if it is a pretty good emulator it should be garanteed to work for my os, windows xp. Thanks for the link. Peace. Yeah, I have heard mainly of the BOOB DC research before. As for this running on your PC lol, if it is having trouble with NesterDC running at a decent speed you can bet your MB that once he emulates tile acceleration (if he does) it will take some kind of Cray machine to emulate it full speed

A DC emu in the works?

Postby adidas on Mon Feb 18, 2002 4:53 am

Did you visit their forum? It's full of intelligent conversation.

"I "buyed" Dead or Alive 2... and now want to play it on PC. I downloaded some Emulators (Nightmare, Dreamer, Dreameremu002, Dreameremu003) but i wasn't able to get the game working. Dreameremu003 says that i need a DC-Bios or something, mayby plubins too. I don't know want they want, and i havn't got a DC. Just want to play this game on PC...
IS THERE SOMEONE WITH AN WORKING EMULATOR FOR COMERCIAL GAMES, OR STUFF TO PLAY THIS GAME?!?!?!?"

Classic! Yes I did actually. Was reading one bloke whine on about why the main dev should make a PS2 emu "'cause same as the PSX only different hardware".

true enough

DC emulation is a far off dream

simulation is different, but hardly anyone bothers (with good reason..making an emu that only works on an athalon 2 gig with 467 megs of ram on windows NT and a Voodoo2x2 setup is just going to get you flooded with hate and begging email)

Wow, that does look promising. Except for one thing: how will people play the games? Dreamcast uses GD-Roms, not CD-Roms, so normal CD drives won't work, right?

wow, this is one hella old thread.

anyway, if you have any burned games they would play in your CD ROM drive should DC emulation become a reality

I thought EVERYBODY had a Dreamcast!

Yeah its just a shame the downloading DC games scene dried up before I got broadband.

I managed to download about 40 games on my 56k. Imagine how I would have done on broadband!

No I never managed the full set unfortunately. I think I have about 40-50 games of which about 13 were bought.

Yeah so at least we contributed something to the dying machine :D

Now they are selling DC games for £4.99 in most games shops to clear the old stock. HMV yesterday had about 20 copies of Chu Chu all going for £2.99 each LOL
