Genesis/Megadrive emus

Sometimes Even Console Emulation Can be Deceptive

Genesis/Megadrive emus

I know this question has been asked a thousand times before but I was wondering if any improvements had been made.

I used to use Genecyst and Kgen but I found Genecyst too slow for some reason and the sound in Kgen was shitty. I managed to change it to higher than 8 bit once before but never managed to get the option working again.

Right, who knows which are the best genesis emus out there? Basically, I'm looking for good frame rates and better than average sound. Actually, the sound doesnt matter so long as it doesnt make that horrible farting noise that Kgen made.

Goto the Megadrive Files section. The best are there including Gens, the emu you want to get.

I believe your system specs are similar to mine, SH. Use Gens! You won't be disappointed.

Cheers fellas!!

I'm assuming that Gens has game pad support.

Are genesis roms easy to get hold of? I know that snes ones arnt but I havent heard of sega putting any pressure on the roms sites.

It's not the companies that put pressure on roms sites (well, indirectly they do.)

If the IDSA decides they don't like the looks of your site, every rom that belongs to their members or is licensed by their members must come off! That's what happened at Aceroms (luckily the IDSA didn't venture into the CPS2 section, the arcade roms are still there)

So, if I'm the IDSA and I went to a site with a couple SNES roms and a lot of Genesis roms, they all come off or else!

You can go to edgeemu.com for Genesis roms. I have a fairly admirable collection of them myself if you have something in mind.

that sound might be from you having a soundcard that doesn't like DOS?

I think megasis was the best for sound, but I can't remember

and really
is it that hard to try them all??

it takes one ROM you like, and very little extra time (you could test all the ones out there before you could get FFtactics configured on ePSXe...)

I was looking specifically for that Donald Duck game adidas. The one where he has a plunger gun and the game starts off in a kind of town where you have to get to the roof tops.

Get Goziila.
Use the search engine built into it.
Simple!

I lists obscure euro sites that i never heard of before, but the reliabity is usuly quite high.
Found Batman Returns,Phantasy Star Adventure/Gaiden (English Big text) and Megadrive ShadowRun that way.
