psx1 boot cd?

Is there such a thing as a psx boot cd that will allow you to play backups without a mod chip?

psx1 boot cd?

Postby Silverhaze on Fri Sep 21, 2001 3:35 pm

OK OK I admit it!! I'm a big fat liar!!

There is a boot disc for the PSX which works on unmodified machines with backups/imports and import backups. How nice!

Only problem is that you need to do the old disc swapping method meaning you will have to fool your PSX into thinking the CD lid is closed. I dunno, I dont have one but I suppose you could stick some blu tac on that button thing that the door pushes.

Call be a pub ftp stealer! I dont mind, that what I am. I got this link from homies so try not to spread it about or it will soon be deleted. Probably along with my membership

Anyway, for those that want it, here it is.

ftp://210.10.117.146/com /;;;Scanned;;;/;;;;;Tagged;;;Uploaded;;;;;/;;; For da ^^~~~HoMiEs~~~^^ ;;;/##### by #####/!!! -=Sega666=- !!! /-=PSX=-/PSone & PSX boot cd (Ver2.0 - PAL)/

Enjoy. Remember not to break the law. ONLY play game that you already own otherwise I feel it will be my duty to report you to the old bill! LOL

Sorry, PAL only by the way guys All those NTSC boys will be pissed now.

Actually I don't need it I've already modded my psx myself. But I wanted for my nephew so I could give him some of my games. And his system isn't worth modding because it's on it's last leg.

But I do need ntsc

supposably u can use a CD a 1000 times over.."supposably" it lasts a lifetime, but givin a disk to somebody who has little responsbility over them would cut their life dramatically

asi was sayin before, before the mod-chip came out, there was that "swap" technique.I think the whole story was in gamecopyworld, but it risks hurtin your psx..

psx1 boot cd?

Postby Silverhaze on Mon Sep 24, 2001 1:53 pm

How does CD life work then? I can understand it with a record or tape where the reading device actually touches the surface of the disc or tape but a CD is read by a laser surely not strong enough to actually harm the surface???

Can anybody explain?

actually, the laser DOES harm the cd, only with very few fragmented parts, buts its not enough to make a REAL damage that is..its how it is...

I assume it is something like light attrition to the pits themselves.

ya can't d/l a boot disc for the PSX!

if you do and it works, hook me up

the reason is just like the saturn, it has a special sector that can only be pressed/burned with a special machine
PSXcopy can't do it, because it's a thing that your consumer level burner can't handle

you have to buy a boot disc specially pressed

it's not like the DC that let CDr boot in order to lessen dev costs/time (why they left that in the consumer model is beyond me)

Pd, if its still there use the link I posted.

The guy that upped it said he had tried it and it worked. You just need to find a way of fooling the open door button thing so it thinks the door hasnt been opened.

I don't wanna! I only have VGS

besides, that sounds like a SWAP disc, not a boot disc

a BOOT disc doesn't need any swaptrick crap like fooling the system into thinking the door is closed even when it's opened

if you can do that, you can just swap any old game with the one you want to play (unless the TOCs are really really different)

you don't need a modchip for swapping, either

a BOOT disc you pop right in like any old game
it will boot up, and ask you to insert a new CD, open up the system, put in your game, and there ya go
nothing that voids the warranty, basically

that's how the bootdisk works(oh,so many amiga memories :-(), but that can get pretty frusturating..i'm not even sure that trick will work on a gameshark.

it's not really worth it.Agood stealth-chip, an engineer degree and a good burner will do..

I've found that none of the action replay codes I have seem to work on my downloaded games. I think its because a lot of them have boot discs included in the game info so they automatically load.

Either way, it doesnt work properly.
