Sometimes Even Console Emulation Can be Deceptive

Dreamcast emu released!

I haven't tried it just incase it's a virus (I've got too much good stuff on my system that I can't take the chance).

Retrogames also has a blurb on it with a link to a discussion about it.
Apparently it plays a couple of games with decent speeds and doesn't use any hle either.

Let me know if anyone tries it.

Ok I tried it and it works!!!

You will need the bios which can be had on this page:
http://elitedreamcast.gratishost.com/news.php

You can either used selfboot games or mount it with daemon tools.

Make sure anydvd isn't running in the backround (anydvd is a program).

When I tried it, it crashed every time I tried to load a game. I'll try it with these BIOS.

i just got code veronica and MvsC2 from suprnova.org

okay, code veronica crashes when i go through the first door and has a few graphic problems on the map and inventory screens. the in game graphics look pretty sweet.

MvsC2 runs fine, but the sprite graphics are really terrible. were they really sketchy on the DC?

can't wait for new releases which will apparantly have btter graphics and sound, and hopefuly use of a mmory card or at least save states.

Yes the sprites were that bad. I have a dc and the vga cable and the games looks the same.

I have almost every NTSC dc game but I'm really lacking space right now (damn mame chds!!)

Is it just me or am I the only one that cant seem to correctly configure the control pad?

I've installed a BT client and having much more luck with that then I did with Crapza and eDonkey, that site Zep mentioned seems to have links to most of what i'm after and the download rate is pretty damn good.

I should be running with MvsC2 in an hour or so, i'll report what results I get with my 2200.

I translated the readme into english using google so hopefully this is of some use.

::By N0V4K::.

Good, I am going to try to explain like creating virtual units and playing with the emulator

of the Dreamcast.

First of all we are going to clarify things for the confused ones on the requirements that request

this 1º Alpha of the emulator.

CPU that has supported instructions SSE (PIII, P4 or AMD XP) of 1,6Ghz or superior

Windows XP or 2003(NO will work with other Windows like 9x, ME or 2000)

DirectX 9.0b installed

Graphical card mark Ati or Nvidia with last drivers

CD-ROM or Dvd-ROM

Backup of games of Dreamcast in format CD or ISO mounted in virtual unit

Single Backups that is autoboot

And read in some forums that ay people who work to him in Windows 2000, but good no

I say nothing.

We unloaded DAEMON TOOLS of this direction.

http://my.so-net.net.tw/martinx/dtools/dt346.exe

Once lowered in our hard disk, we installed it:

Once installed, we will see an icon in the control rod in the left,

So we pressed it with the right button of the mouse and a menu unfolded to us.

Now we went to the submenu? Virtual Cd/dvd-ROM and one unfolded to us

submenu

And we selected?Set to number of devices? and submenu will leave another one to us ':

We are going to explain that he is that of drive/s and the disable option that leaves to us noticeable.

Disable means that all the virtual units take off, and driver/s 1, 2, 3,4

they are the virtual units that we can create, is to say. If we pressed?1 drive? us

it created a virtual unit and if we pressed?2 drivers? it was created two units to us

virtual, to if up to four that it is the maximum that supports east program.

Then it comes we selected?1 to driver? and it will leave this to us:

We hoped to that it finishes creating the virtual unit. Once that?ventanita?

have cleared we will return to the icon of the panel. And we go a again? Virtual CD/DVDROM .

If we paid attention now it leaves two new options to us:

Step to explain that it is each thing:

Average Device 0:[F:]No : It is the virtual unit that we have created. The F: it indicates to us

name of the unit that we can see it in?Mi PC? and we could say that it is like

a unit but, single that does not have its tray to put the CD-ROMs:P and all that.

Unmount all drives : These option the function that it has, is the one to disassemble

images that we have put in the virtual units.

(Explanation, when I say to mount I mean, to introduce the image or that already this

put the image of the CD, and to disassemble when we want to clear those images of CD

of the virtual units that we have)

Now we go to rolled, we are going to put the image in the virtual unit. We put in

Device 0:[F: ] It does not mediate and they will leave two options to us? Seth device parameters that he is

in order to form some cochairs on that virtual unit, it names etc. But in that no

I am going away to put that already I leave pa you to it;). Click in? Mount image in order to be able to put

the image. It will leave a window to us to be able to sail by the hard disk, to if that us

we go to the folder where we have the image, we selected it and we accepted, and us

it will return to leave the?cartelito? of:

Once it disappears, we already have the image put in the virtual unit;) .

We go now with the CHANKAST.

To say before beginning, that I am enough contentment of this project and but by

programmers of Pyros that is people to follow in world-wide level with its piece of

works in the area of the games.

Pos already unemployment of as much peloteo and we go to the subject, we unloaded the CHANKAST of its Web

official who is the one that follows http://www.chanka.org to say that at the moment ay three versions:

?Chankast alpha 0.1: Chankast with grafico Core of Garrofi?

?Chankast alpha 0,1 newgfx: Chankast with grafico Core of Unai?

?Chankast alpha 0,1 Capcom hack: Optimized Chankast to play with games of

Capcom?

To clarify that all works equal at the time of taking the games and forming

controls etc, which changes is the form to execute the games.

Once lowered emulator CHANKATS we are also going to lower dc_flash.bin and

dc_bios.bin that we can lower it of this Link:

to http://elitedreamcast.gratishost.com/De ... _flash.rar

We decompressed everything (If you do not know that decompression program to use I advise

Winrar) and we put in the folder of emulator CHANKAST the files dc_flash.bio and

dc_bios.bin of such form that we have left to if:

We executed the Chankast with its feasible one, and it will leave the window to us the emulator:

That pretty, the tears skip to me...

We are going to form the keyboard, comes we pressed in? Options and one unfolded to us

menu ':

And we pressed? ConfigureControls and it will leave another ventanita to us to be able to form

the controls:

We are going to explain as to form a key and already all the others are equal.

In the section? Actions they are the keys of our keyboard and in? Actions

available

Down to the left they are the bellboys of the control of our Dreamcast. To think like

we want to distribute the command activities in our keyboard. Once

we found thought and meditated, we itched in one of the keys of the menu Actions by

example the key 1 click twice with the short whiles and will put of yellow color and us to us

it qualified the menu? Actions available in target, we go to that menu with the mouse and

we selected that function of the control of the Dreamcast we want that works in

key 1, and to if with all the functions of the control. When we have finished

we pressed? To accept and we go away again to the menu? Options And we give a him? Init ,

as we already have the image of the game loaded in the virtual unit, it will read the single one. If

the image has position the BOOT was taken as long as the emulator

support, if it does not support it or it does not have the put BOOT we go away to the menu of

Dreamcast, or to us is disappointed. To remember that it is a Alpha and does much already stops

to be that.

Just finished testing MvsC2 and was pulling 35-50 FPS depending on stage and whats going on at the time.

I'm fairly impressed actaully. I'll have to see a couple of other games i'm familar with before making final judgement, but it look damn close to the real thing and doesn't show any obvious signs of the shitty non-emulation that is present in N64 emulators.

You can't play anything other then self-booters apparently and the input setup is usable, but definatly needs some work.

Damn! I guess I can't try it:(

I even tried using bin 2 boot but I had to convert from one image to another and I think that caused some problems, that and I think disc juggler has changed their cdi format since bin2boot came out:(

Wow Ive missed out on some action!!

Im having some difficulty in seeing the advantages of downloading a DC game and playing it on an emulator when I can just burn it and play it on my actual DC though.

Might give it a try sometime and see how it works. Has anybody tried running the emu through their TV yet?

Oh and does anybody have a cracked version of Ooga Booga that doesnt have that freeze, play, freeze, play copy protection thing?

lol still after that, eh? I don't know if it even exists :)

And I am not even bothering with the emu anymore. I can't get it to work, and other than for novelty I have no need for an emu since I have the real thing.

I prefer the emu over the real thing only because with the real thing I would have to get it out of storage and set it up. The more I can do with my computer the happier I am:D

I'll wait til someone release the firmware they used on some Yahama and Pioneer CD-ROMs that enable computer to read GD-ROMs. With emulator available right now maybe they'll get those firmware out too. 8)

LMAO Yeah Im still after that! Even if I wipe my memory card of all traces of the game it still does it straight away as soon as you start a game!

Its a quality game once you unlock all the levels, weapons and characters. Boar football was a great laugh!

freeze tag

Postby Pdaimaoh on Sat Nov 13, 2004 3:41 am

What's this freeze/play/freeze issue? My brother d/l Ooga Booga a llloooooonnnngggg time ago, like right after it came out or something and made me a copy, I played it off and on a few times but had nobody that wanted to play it multi so I gave it away to a coworker at the most-hated job, but I never had it freeze. My bro keeps copies of everything in data form, so if you could explain the freeze issue, I'll have him burn another copy and try to recreate it...

I still have a working DC, so I don't think I'd care about an emu as much as a hopeful resurgence of DC isoz because my bro only got games he thought might be cool and it differed a lot from the mad list I would get

I still don't have any personal copy of tech romancer and that pisses me off a lot! (obviously not enough to pay for it! paying for DC games now seems like a waste of money)
