Weird VGS Problem

Postby neon_sonic on Sat Aug 24, 2002 9:23 pm

I'm having a weird problem with Connectix VGS. I got the full version and the patches to use it with Windows 2000 and stuff. Anyway, I click on the patches program, select what I want to use, and click Run. Then it loads VGS like it's supposed to. If I exit VGS and then try to load it again, it won't load VGS after I click "Run" and if I try to just click on the main program, it says "Failed to run Connectix VGS!". If I restart, it works the first time, but then I have to restart again and the cycle continues. Why won't it let me run the program after I ran it the first time? This is getting really annoying having to restart every 10 minutes...

maybe your patch sucks? or your OS

or maybe it has something to do with the temporary file that's created when you run VGS?

when I run it with no temp version, it's all pixellated, but if I close it down and run it again (with a temporary version in the temp folder) it will use my vidcard's ability to smooth the pixels

patch it, run it, then go to your C:\windows\temp folder and find something that looks like TnfXs.dat

erase that then try to run your patched VGS a second time

if it starts up fine, then the temp image is what's screwing up the deal

also, check aldostools.com and see if there are better patches

Same thing happens to me with Populous the beginning on XP.

I have to reinstall it and patch it before every time I play it since it will only load the once right after patching.

maybe it has something to do with preserving files

can you patch it, shutdown your computer, restart, then play the game, or does that require another round of patchery?
