Trouble with Corn (N64 Emulator)...

Postby neon_sonic on Thu Jul 25, 2002 7:30 pm

First off, I'd just like to welcome myself to the boards. This seems to be one of the VERY few decent emulation BBSes.

On to my problem. When running Corn 0.2 (w/ 0.3 upgrade) in Windows 2000, it always tells me that the program has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. It could just be because I don't exactly have a godlike PC, but other emulators will usually at least load the ROM... slowly. I have DirectX 8.0 installed, so that's not the problem. Any help?

What system have you got? I have only managed to get Corn to run SM64.

And welcome to the boards ;)

I don't think I've ever tried Corn. Does it have any advantages over Project 64? Project 64 seems to be the most compatible and is fairly fast too. I don't have a 'god-like' PC either.

Corn was one of the earlier N64 emulators. It runs very fast, but only runs a few games.

I'm pretty much only trying to get SM64 to work. I honestly don't know what my machine is. All I know if it's fairly old (about a Pentium 2) and I have a shitty graphics card.

UltraHLE was the best when i tried using N64 emu's, faster than project 64 on my P3 500. Runs SM64 full speed and well. I never could get corn working myself.

Yeah, I have to go with JB on this one. If you've got a P2, and really only want to play Mario, then UltraHLE is probably your best bet. I haven't used it in ages myself, but when I did I can remember playing SM64 and thinking that the emulation was damn near perfect.

UltraHLE is one of the best N64 emulators available. But the problem is it only runs good with a voodoo card. Which never really have a good driver for windows2000. And I'm not too sure if any Glide Wrapper capable of running with NT based OS.

Did you try install the newest driver for your video/sound card? Sometimes a new set of driver will solve the problem. I've never use Corn before but according to what I know, they never really finish version 0.3. Can your system run with ver. 0.29 upgrade?
