where's the ftp?

Decent ROMS,Fairly fast servers and easy navigation makes an Emu site worthy to post here

Postby ivwshane on Mon Jun 17, 2002 1:45 am

I would just start taking orders, find out what people are looking for and up it.
If you could get a complete set of NES and SNES roms you would be the "rom king".

If you are up to it then you should go to emuchine.net, I believe they have a complete set of both.

Good luck!!

ok, you had originally put "emuchine.net" that's why I was getting a 404 error

I went there, and the server is COMPLETELY bogged down. There's no chance I'm gonna get anything from them. Besides, I would need leech access on their FTP instead of clicking each and every link for thousands of games. There's gotta be a faster way.

How about this? Draxe gets all MAME off you and acts as a sort of mirror + other files?

Willing to donate

Hey, I know this is my first post here, but I'm desperate for some decent speeds and single rom files, without all that "pay me and I give you" bullspick. I have been trying to find something like the ftp for a LONG time now and came across a post about it and started browsing the forum and found this. I may not have too many roms right now, but I can start downloading all of RomNation's library, since I have near-free access to their server (besides their 500mb+ roms) and I would be more than willing to start uploading, I actively download random NES, SNES, PCE, GENESIS, GB, GBA GBC Roms!
Consider me if you will, but I understand the rules of private servers.
Thanks in advance,
Zero

Welcome to the board...

But this is a pretty old post:

And the person running the FTP isn't very active anymore... that and the FTP runs off his home connection so you might not see 'decent' speeds (depending on your idea of decent :) )

The options I can recommend to you are:

1. usenet (but it will cost you)
2. IRC channels serving ROMs (just search http://www.packetnews.com)
3. Torrents (keep an eye on major torrent sites, I don't use them so I can't direct you to any)
4. ROM sites.. few and far between.

That being said, if you don't mind a *little* hassle, http://www.romhustler.net is pretty good.

honestly its better off downloading the whole set and delete the one you dont want.Since 7zip has an awesome ompression rate..and it shouldnt take too long

downloading individual roms in a free site its not really worth it if you think about it..too much work..

decent is getting > 2kbps (bittorrent) speeds on dialup (my standard connection)
or >16kbps on the 512kbps connection in my back yard (My Stolen connection [and much prefered])
those were both the speeds I got on two dif torrents, and each said that would take about 36+Days to complete... I really just want a couple 'o games, and its not an issue of HDD space, if i had a better connecton I'd host a complete library, I got a whole 130GIGZ free on one HDD and 99Gigz on another + an extra 160gig I dont even have plugged in right now (i need to re-solder a couple of pieces that got fried on it)
If you guys find a decent rom site {i will continue looking as well} pm me or something.
Thanks for tipping me off where to look, but Torrent these days is slow or outdated... and you are right, VERY few rom sites carry CHD files... they are "too big" have any of you guys toyed with the MAME that was ported to PSP? I havnt been able to get too many games working on it, maybe I'm doing something wrong... I know it will never support CPS2 or the like, but I'm hoping to at the least get some raiden or some Twin Cobras or some kinda classic shooter or a decent fighting game or SOMETHING to keep me busy when I get bored of only having like 2 games for it / my 200 SNES games and whatnot that I have on there...............
unfortunately a lot of games have been ruined for me - I work in an arcade... after about the 300,000 time of hearing "MARVEL VS. CAPCOM" !or "HERE COMES A NEW CHALLENGER!" .....>_<
And thanks for welcoming me to the board - hard to find a decent board, or at least decent people these days....... that and I'm having slight reputation problems ;_;

BTW since you all are prolly more in the "loop" about upcoming arcade titles... what have you heard about Time Crisis 4?
