ftp://64.224.112.34/

path 010615133354p/#hookup/06.20.01 Sonic Adventure 2 echelon (or something like that, just make it to the "#hookup" directory and you'll find it)

the speeds at this ftp are faster than a good sonic...

Postby Sabin on Sun Jun 24, 2001 9:42 am

i just grabed it from alt.binaries.dreamcast. I like it so far but wish that they would do somethin about the voice acting. You can't really call it overhyped though seeing as how there has been almost no hype from anyone other than the fans andi can see why the reviewers were so impressed by what they saw. Not the best game but i would say it is a definite 9 in my book. I'm almost tempted to buy it though so i can get the japanese voices and just read the english subtitles.

I don't see how reviewers liked this game, and it barely pulls a five out of ten in my book

the camera is unforgivably foul
and so is the character placement

"play thru a level as eggman, fight the boss with shadow..." WHAT?

stupid, and the music? it's the same music from SA! geeez

I'd only think of buying this game if it was in the bargain price range, and even then it would have to be the ten dollar one
Crazy Taxi 2 is far more worthy

I won't pay for a new sega product until either JGR2 comes out for the DC or the entire Shining Force 3 is translated to english, by sega...

I didn't try any other game at that FTP since I didn't want any of them

there are only a few games for the DC that I even want now, since I have most of what I like (sadly, I bought most of it...)

oh yeah, I found that ftp just like I find all the other stuff

Finally a fast site!! Soon as I get to work I'm getting some stuff!

I was thinking of buying the game but it doesnt sound like they have spent too much time on it. Rather like they have revamped the original a bit.

I'm not going to pay for another DC game until they promise to get some decent fucking actors to do the voices in the games!!! LOL HOTD2 has the driest flat voice overs I've ever heard and most of the others arnt much better!

Wahey!! 40kb per sec!!

I'm getting StuntGP so that if its crap I wont have wasted any money on it. After that I'll get sonic2 and maybe one other. Just a shame that Virtua Tennis 2 is the jap version and wont work on my DC.

Yeah too bad.

How do you burn these files to a CD? THey arnt in any format I recognise.

I thought I'd start off small and go for StuntGP which is only a few files but the files I have are:

e-stgp.001
e-stgp.002
e-stgp.003
e-stgp.004
e-stgp.005
e-stgp.006
e-stgp.nfo
e-stgp.sfv

What exactly do I need to do with them and will I need a boot disc to get them up and running?

I've heard from plenty of people who have bought SonicAdventure 2,that is is a good game.

Remember,it is still a game primarily aimed for children,so you shouldnt have your expectations raised too high.

I'm sorry to say but I have to agree with the others in that this is the worse sonic game I've played.

the *.r0x files are for WINRAR, you can get a shareware demo at cnet

just open up either the *.rar or the *.r01
then extract the file, it will merge the parts for you

should then be a .cdi file for discjuggler
you WILL need to patch it, I think you gotta do it thru the dos commandline
then burn the image with discjuggler on a decent 80 min CDr

the .cdi files are usually selfboot
if you got a bin/cue however, that'll probably need a bootdisc, but you can also add the booting to many of those games (dunno how, never needed to do that)

Yeah plus I got a competition thing from EB saying I could get SA2 for £30 with my loyalty card and then enter my name in for a special 10th anniversary pack containing a colour brochure showing his history, an anniversary gold coin and a music CD. Ooooooh!!!

It would have been really cool if they had gone to the trouble of releasing all the other sonic games on a CD for the DC as an aniversary pack. Even if they didnt improve the graphics one bit it would have been fucking cool!! Why the hell am I not some bigwig in the Sega company. I'd turn that bastard around in no time. LOL

I cant decided whether to bother downloading it now or just go and buy it. Its only 30 quid and that download is really fat. Can I be bothered?!? Hmmmmmm.

That Sonic racer game on Saturn was pretty
shite, mainly because of its speed. The isometric game wasn't so hot either.

the .nfo files can be viewed with the mighty NOTEPAD

they just tell you the nice stats like how many rar files there should be, what kind of CDr to use (74/80 min)and then a really stupid hype blurb that looks like it was ripped off the back of the game case
then they thank themselves or something like that, and sometimes they list all the other games their group ripped and dumped

I dunno if stuntGP is different to the others but this is what the readme thing says.

Make sure you run UNPACK & INJECT prior to burning this one.

I've listed the included files in a previous post and they all appear as files not associated with any program.

Has anybody seen an .sfv file before?

okay, this is the deal

.sfv is the file that you can use to check your WINRAR files, if you got them all and try to extract the files, and you get errors, you can use the .sfv with some program, maybe even winrar, to see which files are actually corrupt so you can just re download those files, I've never needed the .sfv, but it's nice to have

the unpack and inject should've been explained in the readme
it means the audio was ripped out of the image for some reason that escapes me
run UNPACK and it releases them, then run INJECT and it pushes them into the .cdi file
then you can just burn the .cdi with discjuggler and it should all be fine
