I was just curious about how people feel about posting links to DC games (not that I have any).

Come on Crazy Taxi 2 isn't out yet, unless it just came out in Japan or is a beta. What did you do download and burn it onto CD-ROM? (before anyone starts sqwarking yes the DC can accept CD-ROMS).

How large was it?

Hmm yeah, I just saw they have it.

yeah, and only a few places around here have it, according to other people, cause I still haven't seen it for sale

an it's a small download, I might buy the actual version, but only if Hitmaker says good things at spaceworld.

6-10 months ago there were slew of pages on how to burn them(dc-iso's), but i expect once the games stop coming out, iso's will come out in the truckloads...

After the way sega have fucked us DC owners about, plucking titles away from us as we eagerly reach for them only to move them to other systems I'd download games to play on my DC anytime.

Don't you mean SEGA hardware R.I.P? They're going to keep producing games which is brilliant as they're one of the best.

I didn't buy a DC because I was afraid sega was going to abandon it like some of it's other projects.

I'd like a GC but as I'm saving to leave this shitty country for a good while its outta the question. Sticking with my DC for now and if I can download games and play em I bloody well will after sega decided it would be a good idea to release that piece of shit 18 wheeler game and not release a sequel to the excellent Jet Set Radio (which I might add, rolls of the tongue a lot easier than Jet Grind Radio)

How many games will actually fit on a CD or do the games never really fill up that much space? Do sega only use the GDs in an attempt to foil piraters?

You can only put 1 game on a cd no matter what size it is, that's just the way it works

Is it too early to ask for DC games?

Postby Damian on Wed Jun 13, 2001 10:30 pm

I would say most DC games (excluding ones such as Shenmue and other obvious massive games) come in under 100 megs and probably a lot under 50. CD games used to be much larger 2-6 years ago because they were all practically stuffing them with MPEG video which takes up massive amounts of space.

Now the "interactive movie" dream has passed (even though WC3 on the 3DO came bloody close if you ask me).

If a game contains loads of speech, lots of locations, music etc then obviously it is not going to fall into this category. Also unfortunately many game companies rarely use the sound hardware any more for music they just stream it off disc, but I remember SEGA used to try not to do this quite a few times with Saturn games. Also I was wondering if Jet Set Radio does this as the music barely ever seems to stop.

P.S I gave JSR back to Carrie on Monday to give back to you but she said I had forgotten to put the disc in the box. However I reckon she looked in the wrong compartment as it has two. I think it is still in the office, have a look tomorrow.

are you high? what do you mean the interactive movie dream has passed? what the fuck was that useless shenmue game?

the future of gaming is indeed bleak and foul, much like the era of CD based console peripherals...(turboduo/segaCD) except that now, rather than grainy cruddy FMV, we will have sharp and bright cruddy FMV....
and this will rage on for about two or three years, which will sadly be about the fattest times for all the new consoles...then one will pull away from it, and another will just make another system and hope it doesn't start over

My point was that, for a while every game publisher and their granny jumped on the interactive movie bandwagon from late 1992-1994 or so. We had shitty games such as Microasam (SP?), Night-trap, Sewer Shark. And tons of others my mind probably blocked out due to their shitness. Any game you bought on CD was virtually guaranteed to have some FMV if not copious amounts of it.

Today it is much rarer to see FMV and normally it is of the graphical nature. Shenmue was meant to be F.R.E.E Free Reactive Eyes Entertainment a completely new genre (lol). But I actually quite liked it until the warehouse forklift driving became too confusing as I got lost as I did in real life.

No-one really gives a shit about interactive movies anymore just ultra realistic driving games (yawn).

Don't be talking shit about sewer shark! I don't want to have to put the beat down.

I, unfortunatly, was one of the people who bought a sega cd. Luckily for me I'm a neat freak when it comes to electronics and kept it in good shape and was able to return it for a game gear(which was also later returned).

The fmv craze of the early to mid 90's almost killed videogames in my opinion.
