Looking for ANY Dreamcast ISOs!

Yes, I know there is a thread almost just like this one, but oh, well. I am looking for ANY DC ISOs of official games besides Ikaruga. I cannot find them ANYWHERE. Please help!

Yes they are always like that on those kinds of boards.

The problem I always faced with those places is that mostly the apps that get posted are all manner of shit you would never in your right mind want and the PC games are too meaty for my machine mostly.

I also never have anything of any use to upload to them.

Used to be ok in the DC days though. I used to keep a select few on my PC just to post every now and then. Powerstone and Ooga Booga are good cos they are both really small.

Yes it's a very close community and it's ment to be like that to keep away leechers.

The easiest way to start collecting is to start your own FTP and give free access to all while requesting games you want (be sure to use the "hide" feature or you will get leeched to death).
After a while you will build up a nice collection and you will be able to dictate trades.

If you are on dial up though then you might as well forget it.

Well, I'm on cable, so that shouldn't be a problem. Could you give me an idea how the system there works? Should I make sure to upload something before I request anything? How do I upload something, anyway?

You will need to find out what pubs you are allowed to upload to (I think there is a topic on it). Then just start your favorite ftp program up and start uploading.

You can make request just as long as you are willing to upload or trade with someone something that you have.

Ok. Sorry for sounding like such a noob, but I really don't have any clue how to access FTPs. I've been trying to access them through IE, but it doesn't really do anything. Can you explain them to me a little? ...Please?

There are two ftp clients I recomend, smartftp and flashfxp. Use those and you should be fine.

FlashFXP is good cause a lot of people like to FXP stuff these days...

it's really simple, and while IE does have a rather decent FTP surfing ability, for stuff like ISOs you will want to use something a bit more dedicated

go to the pubs board there, and look for any RECENT posts of scans
generally if someone hasn't posted in that topic and claimed a particular scan, you are free to try to enter it yourself, and try to upload some stuff

I suggest uploading something FAIRLY SMALL, and then try to DOWNLOAD it yourself after upping it, to ensure that you actually can upload your DC games and others can actually download them

which is why I suggest RECENT scans, the longer a scan is active, the sooner a leech fuckface will steal it, or a legit sysop will rectify the ability to enter and use the ftp

isos will be a fast paced thing for a long time, unless you find some kickass places (I know a guy that did the networking at my old job hosted a fat FTP on the company computers! hahahahahahaha)

I find LeapFTP to be very agreeable.

Anyway, the biggest problems I found with those places was having something to upload inthe first place and then getting people to make ISOs in the right format.

As cue/bin files never worked right with my burner I cant ever download them. I'd rather they uploaded in disc juggler ISO format like all the old DC games used to be but that rarely happens now.

Lemmie know if this place has any good stuff?

DJ is pretty much all they use and most of them know how to make self boot images.
And this place doesn't require that you upload first but it is quicker to gain respect and get more games if you do.

I was using one called d-forums or something recently but all the files available were shit so I didnt visit for a long time and my sign on got deleted.

Download a few bits then upload them somewhere else for respect and download away!

They post games for the general public (meaning those that haven't contributed yet) once you get a couple of those games you can then upload them or share them with others.

The more you help the better your chances will be to get more games.

instead of "http://"
you will use "ftp://"

then, instead of 'pcbboard.com'
go to your run/command/dos window and PING http://www.pcbboard.com and see what numbers it gives you? all sites have those numbers and when you type in the words of the URL, all the computers are seeing are the numbers assigned to that URL

ftp don't bother letting people have fancy names most of the time, or nobody bothers, so you will just have numbers like your IP

may be what follows the ftp://

so you put that into your ftp surfing program, and it'll take you there
you should find folders/directories and the programs/files inside of them

any good ftp program will have very OBVIOUS buttons or button names for what you want to do next (I know one opens two small windows...one for the current ftp directory and one for a directory on your computer

it has an arrow button for each side, so obviously, if you want to upload 'DCsuckygame.iso' from YOUR computer to the ftp, you highlight your file, then hit the arrow that points over to the ftp window

likewise, if you wanna download 'muchcoolerDCgame.iso' you highlight it and then press the arrow aiming at your computer's folders

that's pretty damn simple

slightly harder things are username and passwords
but again, good programs won't make you put them into the addybar, they give you specific fields
and a lot of pubscanned stolen ftps are anonymous login, which is just nothing/any old thing that your ftp will fill in for you

just poke around with a program and a valid ftp addy and you'll figure it out very quickly

furthermore, if anyone has a temporary 'holding ftp' I can send a couple ISOs to, that will help other people have stuff to share, shoot us an email

I mostly have just fighting games, but something is better than nothing (also got a few other non fighting games like sonic2 and crazy taxi2)
