clones not working in MAME32/.56?

Postby M on Tue Dec 11, 2001 10:16 am

Lots of the cloned that I have don't work. Does anyone else have this problem? For example: I downloaded 19xx. I downloaded the us version and the hispanic version first. They worked out fine. But there are 2 more. The other 2 are japanese versions. I have downloaded these files from different places many times and they still don't work. All it says is that legal bs and press ok to continue then it says that these roms don't work properly and that there are clones of the game: 19xx and 19xxh which i already have.

Lots of help? Please!?

Game will always work as long as your have the parent, or master ROM. The clones simply contain the additional files related to the game, but they have to recall from the master board. Make sure you have the parent (mame.dk will do) and all should be fine.

Once again they do not work. ::sigh::

This really sucks.

I have the parent rom: 19XX

I downloaded it from mame.dk

It works. I downloaded the hispanic version that is a clone and it works.

The other 2 japanese clones don't work.

Help?

Did you download the new rom or the old one? And what version of mame are you running?

Right, when you do an audit what happens??

If the roms you are trying to run appear after the audit with a red cross next to them then they dont work and it is no fault of yours.

They are either bed dumps or incorrect checksums or something like that and there isnt much you can do.

Dunno why you really want to play them though since they are pretty much the same as all the other Jap versions.

I don't really want to play them. I just want to collect all of the working roms for Mame .56. Does anyone have the entire set? Ftp or anything. Anyone?

n00b question: Audit? Do you mean scnning for games. Like when you press f5?

Thanks.

No I mean when you have all the roms you want in your roms folder load mame and go to FILE - Audit all roms.

That will check your roms for correct and incorrect dumps and give you a list of what is wrong with them after its done.

The ones that say - NOT FOUND are incorrect roms and need to be downloaded again.

All the others are like bad dumps and stuff so there is nothing you can do.

Once the audit is done, if you click on the Available tag on the left of the screen it will show you which roms you have available for play. You will see the red crosses on the list that appears telling you that they are bad dumps.

Hope that helped.

You could also check out mame.dk as it tells you whether the roms work or not when you click on them.

I just checked one of the 19xx jap roms for you and this was the result.

Driver-Information

working: no
correct sound: yes
driver sound: Stereo
correct colors: yes
blitter: plain

Unfortuneately it says that its a non working rom. You'll have to wait for another dump if it ever comes.

btw Jewboy has a full collection and I think Sabin and Ivwshane have the full set on their ftp's

The reason some of your clones are not working is because they are cps2 and need XOR's . Simple solution is to just play the working ones

To audit your roms go into File > audit all roms. Then wait, you'll have a list at the end of the process. If you see "No good dump Known or Rom needs redump" these are ok. What you don't want is "file not found or Incorrect CRC's" download these files to fix your set/roms.

Use either ZipDL or Download Mage to fix your roms as these progs can go into zips and get only the files you want and saves on getting large roms again.
