Mame CHD files, update yet?

Postby ivwshane on Thu Mar 18, 2004 10:28 am

I know there was talk about shrinking the chd files but has it actually happened yet?

If it has what's the best way to update/fix what I have?

(I have a feeling we talked about this already).

Comes in the same zip as MAME.

Be prepared to re-download, CHD verification is much better since the overhaul and a couple of mine were complete write-offs.

OK so I ran an update on area51.

It finished but at the end it said, "G:\>Compression complete ... final ratio = 58%
'Compression' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.

G:\>WARNING: found 2 errors in the input file, checksums not verified"

Does that mean my file is bad?

Sounds like it, my Area 51 was knackered as well.

Try and run it just to make sure, you'll soon find out if it is duff.

I'll try that. I also did area51mx and only got one error.

How many errors did you get?

Thankfully my area51mx was clean, I was dreading having to get that again if it wasent. I had a couple of other write offs aside from area51, one was Vicious Circle and the other escapes me at the moment.

A couple of the Atari games needed fix diffs as well as conversions, Mace and one of the blitz games if I remember correctly. Judge Dredd uses different CHDs for each revision, but you only have to make a copy of the main one and patch it rather then download two of them.

I'm still not up to date with my MAME set, half a dozen multi-100 meg CHDs of music crap that barely qualifys as being games does wonders for my motivation.
