I'm not sure what the MESS emulation of the 2600 is based on, but if you can be bothered to use a seperate emu: the best Atari 2600 emu IMO is Z26. There was a Windows port of it released recently.
the reason i dont use it here is cause my roomat ehas itouch on his computer,meaning he uses the F1,F2..(etc) keys to access his shortcuts for his mail,meaning, z26 uses the F1 commands to work the emulator

I hate to mention it, but you could of saved yourself some time trying with MESS if you actually read the documentation -
This driver is highly preliminary. It will load most 2k, 4k, and 8k Game Program images, but will only display graphics for some of them. The games themselves are not currently playable. Work is continuing on the driver however.
Not to mention that the system is also marked with a non-working icon in the GUI.
