Neoragex Roms Needed.

Postby M on Wed Sep 18, 2002 10:26 am

Yep, I've been playing a few games using NeorageX instead of MAME and I like it very much. The bad part is that none of my mame roms work with neoragex. Does anyone know where I can find neo geo roms that are for neoragex and not MAME. Any links would be GREAT. THANKS!

Why on Gods green earth do you want zip files full of misdumped and outdated old crap for use with a outdated and bug-filled emulator when youve got clean perfect sets which can be used in at least 3 vastly superior emulators? Nebula is pretty much just an updated carbon copy of that pile of old shite, use that if you want something with a crap interface and naff extra features.

That good enough Ad? :D

Yep, I'm right there with you on this one! It's like using a year old copy of Gens vs. the updated version (well, not exactly - but in a way it is)

BTW - RY, Have you used Nebula since the Kawaks interface was added? If the default interface really bugs you, you might want to try it.

Honestly though Yello. If you are only after NRX because it does that pixel smoothing thing and runs nice enough even on a P200 then I'd suggest using one of the newer emus. Some still have great performance like NRX did on lower spec machines and I'm sure you can find that smoothing and blurring thing that Mr Yak dislikes so much.

Did somebody say something?!?

I used to love that effect, made metal slug look much nicer. A lot more cartooney.

Nope, I used Nebula about twice and was totally put-off permanantly by the interface and the fact that I had to change about 12 options to actually get the display to look like a proper arcade machine.

I've got no need for it now anyway, I dont see any point in using specialist emulators for systems when they are in MAME and perfectly playable on my machine.

Gah, whats the point in using an arcade machine emulator if you dont want it to look like the real thing. I dont recall ever walking into an arcade and seeing games on crystal clear moniters enhanced by a load of crappy fake graphics effects. Arcades will always be dark seedy halls full of uprights with cheap moniters, nice solid controls and ciggy burns on the panels.

i still use neoragex for making gifs, but when it comes to quality, Kawaks is where it's at.

Rather than continuing to beat you over the head with my copy of Nebula:

you can try http://wwww.speksnk.metropoliglobal.com/

I'm not sure if these are for NeoRageX or not, but you can download a small one and see if it works

I just dont like the way games look with scanlines and since I never played any NG games in the arcade before NRX I never knew what they originally looked like. That smoothing thing was nice for those games.

I remember the games as I am sure most of us do, as looking absoulutely spankin' at the time. When I see them with scanlines it reminds me that they were all actually quite crappy looking. I prefer to remember them as looking much nicer and not using scanlines helps with that.

Not that I've even touched mame in months. I've been back on C&C Tiberian Sun.

I personally think that most games look worse without Scanlines anyway, sort of unfocused and blocky.

I tend to remember games looking and playing like they actually did, with a couple of exceptions like Doube Dragon and Return of the Jedi. My benchmark of good games is still back in in the late 80s somewhere, I can play all the modern games I like and still go back and be impressed by older stuff.

Althougth I could swear that DD actually used to be playable or that ROTJ actually looked pretty good.

Yeah DD is a classically dissapointing game. Aged worse than a pile of fruit left out in the sun.

I cant believe I used to be able to complete it with relative ease. Rush n attack in NES used to look great to me too.
