EA buys Mythic

The latest ‘victim,’ shall we say, of EA’s neverending acquisition of talented developers was unveiled yesterday: the creators of such series as Dark Age of Camelot and Warhammer, including the upcoming Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning MMORPG, Mythic Entertainment.

However, the company has been working on a new title, Warhammer Online, based on Games Workshop’s popular pen-and-paper roleplaying game of the same name. The Warhammer world was introduced in 1983, and has strongly influenced many other fantasy works since, including World of Warcraft.

EA’s monopolistic ways (that’s how I see their strategies of buying up other developers) do not sit well with me, however this can inject some money into the marketing and acquisition of talent to spruce up games already in development, as a good friend of mine who works at Mythic points out. Anyway, you can read the rest here

Are we in for a whole bunch of bug ridden MMORPGs?
