I've seen lots of 360's on ebay with the 3 rings of death. Do you think it's worth getting one?

I have not heard of any assured methods of getting them working again, just holdover methods like oven baking. Unless you're pretty good with electronics and want a project.

Some goes as far as changing the thermal compound on the CPU and GPU, balls of steel me thinks.

Might wanna stay away from those 3rd party intercoolers too, some reports that they increase crashes rather than reducing them.

Microsoft really do need to address the situation with the overheating and that frickin' noisy DVD drive.

I use one of those 3rd party intercoolers and you can notice the lower air temp around the machine with it turned on. Its just 3 fans about 2.5" each that suck air out the back and draw it in everywhere else. Cant see what harm they could possibly do??

Increased load on the power supply?

...anyway, my roommate has a 360, and hasn't had any troubles yet. He got it a few months after launch.
