Nintendo Co. announced a partnership with former rivals Thursday intended to boost the library of downloadable classic video games for the company’s upcoming Revolution console.

The agreement covers some of the more than 1,000 games made by Sega and Hudson Soft for the now-defunct Sega Genesis console and the TurboGrafx 16 system, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata said.

Indeed it is but then look how well Xbox arcade is doing.

Im of the same opinion really. I was most unimpressed with the Xbox Arcade idea but many many people are into it and its beginning to get large support from many developers now.

I'm just annoyed that we didn't come up with the idea of making money from emulation.

Ha yeah I was thinking that when I read the article in Edge magazine.

I was thinking 'Why the hell didnt I go to M$ and propose such an idea long ago?!?!?!'

Thing is....do you think they would have listened to the little man?

Its not as if you can walk up to the front door and say 'Hey Bill, you know what would be a good idea?' and then expect to get paid for it now is it?

I'm just worrierd about what will happen to the emulation scene when the revolution is released.

Will companies start going after roms sites and torrents? Will they dare attack emu programmers?

The games original programmers would probably want to cash in on thier old games. It's already hard to find games like Super Mario World and Super Mario Kart so my guess is they have already started.

Surely there is no 'law' against making an emulator like Zsnes unless Nintendo get the power to change it.

i can see nintendo challenging that ruling.after all, i can see the big N make as much money as possible from old games
