New forum this summer?

Postby Damian on Wed May 16, 2007 4:06 pm

I know this has been mentioned several times before, and I have been waiting for an upgrade to this archaic software for over 4 years now. phpBB 3 is currently in Beta (which is something I suppose) and looks likely to hit RC stage within the next few months.

If it does hit RC by then, I might just convert this forum over if it works (I have tried with a beta, just got a cryptic error message).

Might just pep this place up a little, who knows

Frikkin sweet!!!

Maybe while we're at it we could get this place converted over to a more gaming oriented board.
I'll try and do some reviews of newish games that might tempt some more people in if they are looking for such things.
You're also in an ideal position with your Wii Damian! You get those games before anybody else around here.

Games as in plural? Maybe once Nintendo starts rolling

I tried a conversion again last night from the CVS, complained about some attachment string (there was an attempted mod). I hear the RC conversion should be better though (I hope).

Haha yeah I hear that!!! Whats the fking hold up Nintendo?!

I bought Eledees which was great fun while it lasted but its painfully short and easy to complete. Im trying some of the score attack and challenge levels now....well score attack because I cant even do the very first challenge.

Looks like summer has come early!

http://board.pcbboard.com//

See if you can notice any bugs in it (I'll do a bit of stress testing myself tomorrow) and if all is well we can make the move.

Seems to work ok for me! Perhaps we could tinker with the look slightly?

Some more interesting graphics perhaps in the site banner/logo and is it possible to get names and avatars on the left?

Other than that its great!! What anti-spam things are in place?

The user being on the right is meant to be a "feature" making the post readable from left to right without the user column being in the way. Something to get used to I suppose.

As for graphics, I'll try my hand at a matching logo since the design looks quite nice + the main site is not exactly a gold standard to adhere to.

Anti-spam is much improved, and the new capacha system is more advanced.

Not sure if I should just make the switch as soon as possible since people seem to be posting in both forums and it is getting confusing! :p

Take a look at new forum for two hastily made logos, (can use attachments there ;)) if you want to try your hand at one yourself be my guest.
