Angry parents are threatening to boycott a London primary school's Christmas concert after being told they will have to celebrate Diwali and Eid as well.

Kids at the Ravenscroft School in Canning Town, east London, have been told the Christmas concert tomorrow will have to include presentations on Eid and Diwali - which took place more than a month ago.

More than 100 signatures have been collected from parents of all faiths objecting to a "politically correct multi-faith meaningless muddle", but headteacher Ruth Pigney has refused to receive it.

One mum, Lisa McSweeney, said she was horrified after her four-year-old daughter Haydn came home thinking Christmas was the same as Eid.

Lisa, who is agnostic, said: "I've got a little girl in reception and I asked her what she was going to be doing at the Christmas concert. She said she was singing about all the grandparents coming with presents because it's Eid.

"I said 'that's nice darling, what about Christmas?' and she said 'no, its not Christmas time, its Eid-time, they are the same mummy.'

"It's just wrong. There is no way that I'm going to let my children go along to the concert. I just want my two kids to have a normal Christmas, to sing carols, act in the Nativity play, that sort of thing. It's more about tradition than religion.

Housing officials 'cancel' Christmas

Federally funded facilities tell residents not to sing carols, decorate

Managers in charge of two federally subsidized housing facilities have told residents in one case they cannot sing Christmas carols, and in another they can't decorate their own entry doors with religious symbols, according to a religious-liberty law firm.

Attorneys at Liberty Counsel say they have sent two separate letters to housing authorities subsidized by the Department of Housing and Urban Development demanding that they reverse their positions regarding Christmas.

In a statement, the law group says the Housing Resource Development Corporation has informed those senior citizens living in its Winter Park, Fla., subsidized housing facility that they may not sing Christmas carols, nor may they have outside religious groups or churches sing Christmas carols in the facility.

Representing one of the residents, Liberty Counsel sent a demand letter asserting the housing authority is violating the Federal Fair Housing Act, which prohibits religious discrimination. The housing authority was threatened with legal action if it did not lift the carols prohibition.

"Some of these elderly citizens and persons with disabilities will celebrate their final Christmas in these housing facilities," Staver noted. "It is unthinkable that these housing authorities would rob the elderly and the dependent residents of their joy in celebrating Christmas. It is hard to imagine what these officials are thinking when they tell senior citizens that they may not celebrate Christmas, and then in the same breath, seek to justify their discrimination on the basis of inclusion. Forbidding these senior and dependent residents from celebrating Christmas is the most exclusionary act imaginable."

Patricia Sonntag, director of the office of Services to Students with Disabilities at California State University, Sacramento, has banned 4th of July celebrations, along with Christmas, from her office. Here is her directive:

“With the new year, we will now celebrate the seasons and holiday without decorations in the public areas and hallways. This is a secular university and we are a public service area that has a diverse employee and student populations [sic] even in our private offices. In order to avoid offending someone else, we will not display celebratory reminders. This specifically includes Christmas, Thanksgiving, Halloween, Valentines, 4th of July, St. Patrick’s Day and Easter, off the top of the list [my emphasis]. I, for one, am the worst offender and celebrant. Time has come to recognize that religious discrimination, as well as ethnic insensitivity to certain holidays, is forbidden. I am sorry if this offends anyone, but it is time to start the new year differently.”

GREENCASTLE, Ind. -- Greencastle's town council has decided a fight over religious holiday traditions.

The council decided to keep the official holiday names of Christmas, Good Friday and Easter at a meeting Monday night.

Last week, the council discussed a proposed ordinance that would have changed Christmas to "Winter Holiday" and Good Friday to "Spring Holiday."

There was an outcry from residents, who said the move constituted political correctness gone overboard.

Just got back from watching King Kong.

On the way back a buddy pointed to our courthouse steps here in downtown toronto, Ontario ,Canada and how the Manger scene with the Magi , Joseph and Jesus are not there this year, and how there was this 12 foot high Menorah on the lawn.

Someone went up beside the Menorah and started saying how jewish supremacists run Toronto and that they must be stopped. There were very few people around to hear , yet the few who did hear just yelled at the person at the menorah in a revelrous way which of course is quite appropriate in 'our'' culture at this time of year and seems to be what christmaas in America us all about.

NEWBURGH — A Newburgh man who played the part of Santa Claus at a local Wal-Mart — posing for photos with kids in the store — has been arrested on charges he tried to have oral sex with a 15-year-old Friday, police said Tuesday.

Ransford George Perry, 57, is a self-described children's advocate who registered a business called the "Association Against Biased Educators" and a separate talent agency for kids, the Ron Perry Talent Agency. He was arrested Monday.

Perry "was acting in a capacity of child advocate for the victim" and had told the child he had work to do at his home and needed the child's help with it Friday, Newburgh police Lt. Santo Centamore said.

Once there, according to police, Perry showed the victim a pornographic video and exposed himself. Police said Perry then tried to get the victim to engage in oral sex. Police would not say if the victim was male or female.

While some see him as an enchanting symbol of Dutch culture, Sinterklaas - from whom Americans derived Santa Claus - is not welcomed by everyone. His black-faced assistant, known as Zwarte Piet, or Black Pete, has in recent years come under fire for having racial undertones.

"I understand it's in their tradition to celebrate the event but I have to admit I am deeply offended," says Patrick Chapell, an African-American musician living here in Utrecht.
