BT accusing P2P of copyright theft

Postby Class316 on Sat Aug 17, 2002 4:04 am

BT is sending out letters to users who are using P2P applications, accusing them of copyright theft, and threatening to kick them off its service if they don't stop sharing within 24 hours! The letter says that the user is breaching the Acceptable Use Policy... which in fact does not mention anything about P2P.
However, the AUP contains clauses warning users against violating international law, which obviously would include the European Union Copyright Directive, which critics argue will limit the fair use of copyrighted material.
