Name that game??

In the film Mars Attacks there are the 2 young kids that end up in the Whitehouse fighting the aliens.

One of the first scenes you see them in is where the mum pulls up driving a bus and she then drags them out of an arcade.

They are playing a game where you have to shoot hordes of piranhas as they advance on a diver.

Is this a real game or was it some program created just for the movie???

You could fire-up Point Blank on MAME and try to track down the level where you've got to shoot the flying piranas before they attack the safari blokes holding onto the rope in the middle of the screen.

Then again that might of been Point Blank 2, my memory of what levels are from which game is a bit wobbley.

I would if I had a light gun but unfortuneately those games dont hold the same appeal for me when using a mouse.

I played a lot of Point Blank 1 and 2 in australia though. Got quite good at it in the end. Enjoyable game.

I'll definatly get one of those Act Labs guns if they ever show up over here. I would probably use it as an excuse to spend a ludicrous amount of money on a big new moniter as well.

I played a helluva llot of PB and PB2 a year or so ago. There used to be 3 machines all within walking distance of me and I spent a few "cancelled" college lessons round the house of somebody who had it with a gun for the Playstation.

Yeah its a good one alright. Makes you feel like you have a real aim when you nail those harder levels. You walk outta the place feeling like you would rule if you ever got into a gun fight.

Or maybe thats just me............

I just wish I could use either the original psx gun that came with it or the saturn gun. Maybe I'll mod the actlabs one:p

Yeah, it really makes you think that your the bollocks when you ace the Insane rounds. Great game to brush up for other non-fixed gunners, I'm sure I could of shot a bullet up somebodys arsehole on Time Crisis or Virtua Cop back then.

If your up for a real challenge, try playing the hardest couple of groups in Police Trainer. I can't even beat some of that shit while playing with a mouse in MAME.

LOL Sounds a bit like some of the training missions in Confidential Mission on the DC. The ones where you have to shoot the gun out of peoples hands is a real shitter!
