Metal Slug 4 dumped

Postby Damian on Tue Jun 25, 2002 10:24 pm

That was quick eh? It appeared on a free site for a bit until pulled due to BW. And should be floating around A.B.E.M in one form or another. If anyone gets it up and running please do tell :) It is meant to be quite crap though.

Really re-hashed characters and locations, plus apparently the soldiers are the main enemy now like the original MS. A bit of a retrogression.

I don't know what to think about it. It definitly wasn't as good as #3 and the ending in this one sucked really bad.

Hmm I seem to be having problems. When I try and scan the ROM with Nebula the whole thing crashs. Inside the ROMDATA folder I placed the file neo_mslug4.DAT , I have also tried including the values in the NEOGEO.DAT file. Any ideas?

No matter, turned out it was the latest version of Nebula. Got an older version and it works fine.

The bosses certainly aren't as intricately detailed or impessive as they used to be:

A few new interesting vehicles though:

I'll continue playing to the end, but I doubt there will be much redeeming. Interestingly quite a lot of people seem to like this, but then again quite a lot of people don't as well. I hope they do a better job with MS5.

Heh, I didn't realise this game was only released two weeks ago. This really is an all time low for emulation :P definitely no barrier between this and warez.

Two weeks two months what's the difference? I still think it was released too early. I always felt that emulation had a code of ethics and wouldn't release things that are still out and bring in a significant amount of income (meaning you can still buy it new and it's relatively easy to find). I guess I was wrong.

Why does it matter you ask? Because when you start biting the hand that feeds you you start to piss it off and then it comes looking for your (meaning more and more sites could be under fire from game compoanies).
