Is there a MAME mass renamer tool like goodxxx?

And if there is will it rename the files within the zip?

Oh I wish mame.dk was back with it's roms [img]images/smiles/icon_sad.gif[/img]

ROMcentre and clrMAMEpro are the daddys of ROM verifiers, either of those will do the lackey work for ya.

ROMcentre is my personal choice, top interface and it delivers the goods with hardley any effort once youve got it set up.

It'll be worth checking everything over if its the first time youve verified your MAME stuff with a proper tool, my sets were in a right fucking mess the first time I used RC.

Mosey on over to http://www.romcenter.com for the program itself and http://www.logiqx.com for any arcade .dat files you might want.

Damn it took that tool like four hours to rename about 1600 files.

Oh well at least now I have a really good complete mame collection again.

It's a good thing I started this when I did, so far it's spent almost an hour renaming my roms and is only at 30%.

No problem.

Make sure you clear out the archive folder if you got it to remove any files from the sets, by default it moves them to a seperate zip file inside there rather then deleting them outright.

Yeah I removed them. I'm still a little iffy about the tool though. I had to redownload a couple of roms because it corrupted them, other than that it saved me alot of time.

Damn, Ive never had any problems with it.

Anyway, its your best friend when a new MAME gets released. Saves you shitloads of downloading when you know exactly whats changed in the set rather then getting the whole thing again.

Just incase you dont know already, http://www.sys2064.com puts up fix zips with the individual files that have been changed in each MAME release (aside from big-ass NG stuff and the like) so you can bag them all in one go rather then digging around for a site and using zipdl on each set.
