MAME 0.77

Postby RabidYak on Wed Nov 12, 2003 6:40 pm

Just thought i'd start a topic for the new MAME release since its a mofo of a job for so-bad-its-good 90s Atari shite.

SLOOP chip protection emulation, bringing the top game of my most wanted list with it.

CAGE audio system is now going, so now you can enjoy Primal Rage in all its shitty glory.

Loads of background clean-ups.

Aaron Giles's Seatle driver has been added as if anyone fancies crippling thier ninja PCs with a power black hole.

In non-Atari news, you can now enjoy possibly the most badly aged game in MAME more accuratly then ever as the Double Dragon driver has been rewritten.

Nope, Guardians of the Hood.

Buggy Boy was by Data East, with the emulation barrier being Satan's mathsbox. GOTH is top as i've never seen another machine since and it never got any home ports, i'm content with the ST version of BB until the arcade one is done.

While I agree that there are a ton of crappy games in this release I'm still excited about it.

NFL blitz was one of my favorite "in the arcade" only games (meaning I enjoyed it in the arcade).

How big are most of the atari games?

Dunno exact numbers for the Seattle CHDs yet, but going by emuchina's download pages Wayne Gretzky is 150-odd, Blitz is about 300 - 400 and Mace looks to be up in the 1 - 1.5gig region. They dont seem to have Crapevil at the moment.

Dont expect to be playing them at full rate for a year or two yet, even the best current PC money can buy will still get a damn good hiding.

I thought he was just increasing the level of abstraction, so the file didn't know if it was hdd / cd etc...

reduction in size of those *beasts* would be welcome.

no need to download again though as there will be a conversion tool.

suse linux is downloading right now, when that finishes I'll upload the roms + chds
Cheers,

Release.

He's working on a way to cut out all the lard in some of the CHDs that equates to empty space on the drives they were dumped from, since some of them were oversized after market jobs rather then factory originals.

You'll see a hefty drop in some of the ones that just got added, but the likes of KI and the CoJag monsters probably wont go down any from that method.

ok... 0.77 complete... sorry it took so long but I've been busy.

Only file I don't have is sfish2 (the CD Image). I will get this when it changes in 0.78.

Upload will commence as soon as FFVII (PC) and Border Down (DC) finish.

btw - I bought a DVD burner today :D
Cheers,

Release.

I just love people flame others on stuff they can't find. Just because you can't find those doesn't mean we can not.
