My mame collection is complete!!!!!!!!!

Postby ivwshane on Thu Aug 23, 2001 10:38 am

I've finished downloading every current mame game for a total of 3098 roms taking up a whopping space of 3.2GB. I even audited all the roms and fixed the broken ones.

I hope to get some sort of ftp up soon but I need to think of exactly how I'm going to implement it.

Anyway all I wanted to say was yeah for me!!

Congratulations! Just think if you set up an ftp, it would be like our own little version of MAME DEV!

The coolest thing ever though (just dreaming, but bear with me) is if you copied all of those ROMs used something like WinRAR to unzip them all, and then zipped them all up again into one massive ROM. Heh, wonder what size that would be. Of course anyone who downloaded it would have to use some sort of automatic zipper to zip every file back up again.

Oh yes, MAME.dk says " Perfect !:3102 roms" so you could be missing 4 ROMs.

Welcome to the club!

The 4 missing roms are the bios files for neogeo, deco cassette, Playchoice and CVS.

No I can play those games, is there a newer mamew than there is a mame32? I only use mame32.

I could zip all the roms up into one big file but the time it would take to zip a 3.2GB file would probably end up crashing my system. And the time it would take for you to unzip it would take for ever too if your system can handle it. But hey, I'm willing to try anything. It will be a while though before I get the ftp up because right now I'm working on trying to setup an exchange email server.

i'd advise about zippin it all at once.first, because it's so big, there's a good chance there will be errors.secondly...since the filesa re already zipped, you wouldn't save that much space(hadly at all)

though you could cateorogize them..since u probbaly be updatin them probably about next month

The best thing you could do is to leave them as they are. That way you can queue the files, and if perchance the download were corrupted, you wouldn't have to re-download 3+ gigs.

You know how to set up a ftp, right? Sorry if this is a stupid question, I'm just making sure

LOL Damian you just want to download the zips in one file so you can shove it in Gridle's face.

I use winrar and to unzip multiple files I got to the directory where all the zips are and just highlight them all and say extract or unzip to the folder I want.

Right now I'm inthe middle of setting up an ftp but I'm having some problems. I have broadband which I have connected to a four port router from which my four computers are connected to. I'm using wardaemon as my ftpp client and I have everything setup except one thing, noone outside my lan can connect to my ftp, actually they can connect they just can't get a directory. What happens is they connect and get verified and then it goes to list the directory but it just sits there. And yes I do have my directories as read and list, I can connect to them and see the directories just fine it's the outside that can't. So I'm thinking that it's a setup issue between the router (which by the way I have setup for port forwarding to the right computer, I've done this before with the shoutcast server and it worked just fine). So I'm at a loss right now and have tried everything from changing the port my ftp uses to manually adding an entry into my services file on the ftp machine (all box's use wink or adv. server).
If you can think of anything any help is appreciated.
