Anyone else notice old games that now seem 100%?

Postby ivwshane on Wed Aug 20, 2003 3:10 am

I was just playing mame and checking the progress of some of the games that weren't really playable and it seems some of them have actually been fixed!

Two examples are, lucky N wild!, and michael jacksons moonwalker. Both now look like they are 100% emulated.

Anyone else find some previously non working games that now work with mame .72?

What do you mean missing a rom or two? Do you mean the emulation isn't perfect or that there are a couple of clones that aren't supported yet?

Allot of the Konomi games have improved some over the last couple of versions. Sunset Riders works quite a bit better then it used to thanks to protection fixes, which also sorted out the sprite palletes in Turtles in Time. Run and Gun is playable now and GI Joe is meant to be allot better, alougth I havent tried that yet.

The latest source update finally disables the Midway DCS speed hacks as default, which should sort out some of the fuzzing and desyncing.

I did ask Damian if he wouldnt mind knocking up a lAmE release. I replied that he could knock one up in an evening.

Seems he is all mouth and no trousers that old bloke ;);)

Heh, actually I did try a few nights ago but ran into an ususual error. The MAMEWorld compiling boards were b0rked that night (could not login or search). I have been building Firebird a few times a day which takes 2 hours each time so have not tried again (should have saved error log). I might be able to have another go tomorrow evening ;).

Well I finally tried run n gun again and it looks pretty good however for some reason it plays way too fast.

Anyone have an idea why? I tried to look it up to see if it was a known issue but I didn't find anything (I also don't really know where to look).

And before you say it, yes I have frame skip set to 0 and throttle is checked.

Shane, is your FTP working properly?

Seems all the aced or rard files I download from it are corrupt.

You might have noticed that I downloaded Photoshop twice. The first time round, every single file of it was corrupted. I havent finished the second download yet though.

Use the World version, the US one still has some hefty quirks in it (speed, player selection, atrract mode).

http://www.mametesters.com is the place to look to find out about bugs and stuff.

It seems photoshop is indeed corrupt. It wasn't upped by me so I never checked it. Anyfiles I created myself will always have a recovery record and consist of 20MB files, that way you can easily repair damaged files.

Give me some time and I'll get you a good copy.

Thanks for the tip rabid;)

If you guys find any other files that weren't created by me (see above statement) that are corrupt let me know so I can delete them or fix them.

Oh cool, that would be excellent Shane! Cheers!!

Strange thing is that I could have sworn I downloaded that very same version from you quite a while ago now. Could it have somehow got corrupted since then or maybe Im just going mad :D

It's possible it did get corrupted because back when I got my 160GB drive I moved everything from the old drive to the new one.

OK that could be it.

I found a copy on a bit torrent site that I am going to download today. Should go quite quick being that there were about 15 seeds at least.

If I get it before you find a copy then I'll properly zip and split it and up it to your FTP for you.
