mame32 problems-need help

Postby snipered on Tue May 27, 2003 12:18 pm

i have downloaded the mame32 emulator. I then downloaded a couple of games for it-killer instinct 1 and 2. The problem lies when i try to run it. it comes up with an error. i have then tried auditing the games-they both show a .chd file not found error.
What does this mean and how can i resolve it??

It means exactly what it says on the tin, it cant find the .chd image for the games. Instructions for correct placement of such hard drive images can be found in the MAME FAQ, which you should of already read.

I suggest you download something good instead, Killer Instinct is a rank excuse for a game.

you can get the chd images from http://www.mame.dk

even if you don't agree with rabidyak as to the quality of the game, it is currently unplayable in mame due to the speed of emulation.
Cheers,

Release.

KI 1 runs fine since dynamic recompiling was added to the core (on decent enough systems) as for 2 that should not run full speed on anything but the very latest setup (possibly).

Bad luck old bean, seems like you are aiming a bit high for somebody just getting into emulation.

What spec is your system?

What years of your past are you trying to re-live?

its ok people, i have worked everything out and i have got the games to work. it is true, ki2 runs slow-ive heard u wud need a 4.5ghz pc to make it run at full speed-that does not exist.

I am however having problems with the zinc emulator. I have downloaded the roms, and i have put them into the correct directory, and selected that directory. I have not unzipped em. The emulator reads the roms and says it is present. The problem is when i try to run it-NOTHING-it flickers for a couple of secs and just goes back-i have read the faq with no success-i need help-does anybody know what is wrong?
I have downloaded the zinc emulator and the zinc gui and put them in the same directory as it says.

Sounds like it could be a dodgy rom. But that would usually throw and error up.

Hmm...

Actually Im no good here, I've never even downloaded Zinc let alone played anything on it.
