Wait a year and then buy a new PC. In the mean time, you can find the postreply button and download some decent fighting games.

You need a decent video card to run it. What kinda video card do you have?

MAME uses software for emulation, not video. So that will make just about no difference to speed. He simply needs a 4-5GHZ CPU.

LOL my bad. I thought he was using Ultra64 emulator. :)

I would recommand using Ultra64 for now. The game runs pretty nice on that emulator.

You can convert the IMG to CHD using this:

http://www.mameworld.net/tourniquet/dow ... atchv2.zip

Ok, here's how to get your KI stuff working in MAME (you need a FAST computer for this game hehe). Grab your KI.img file, and your ROMs. Head on over to Tourniqet's site and download his KI/KI2 CHD Patcher/Generator, it's right under Downloads / Misc Stuff to the right of the page. Unzip it to a folder. Put the hdcomp.exe file from the official MAME 0.63 distribution zip into the same folder as the KIPatch program. Put a copy of your KI.img file (make sure you back it up first!) in the same folder. Follow the directions in the Readme.txt file included with KIPatch. You should now have a file called kinst.chd on your hands. Unzip the KI ROMs into the same folder inside the ROMS folder in MAME along with the kinst.chd image, name that folder kinst. Go to a command prompt and type mame kinst. Whalla - KI in MAME! Same works for KI2, you just have to make sure you have a factory restored image for that one.

On your connection I would not bother. Just head over to mame.dk and leech while having dinner.

I would question whether getting KI is worth it on any connection, playing a combination of UMK3 and Clayfighter will replicate the effect with less downloading.

Believe it or not but i actually enjoyed clayfighter. Well not so much enjoyed but it was fun to play with a group of people for an evening when i was 13. Definetly not worth owning though.
