Hey guys good to be back So what's all this talk about mame going "GPL"? What the heck does gpl mean? Does that mean they're closing the source?

WTF? Isn't that like a doorway for lamers to try and sell CD copies of mame with all the roms on ebay? Isn't it basically stating that they can freely distribute the program and even charge for it without any kind of license infringement?

You are surprisingly on the dot, yes this means that derivative MAME projects can start up and progress without permission. Don't ask me why they wish to move in this direction; probably a "me too" effect. After all it is meant to be "Open Sores".

once you devote a lot of time to a HOBBY, you tend to want to dig deeper
