Who's been following the Cruisn USA WIP?

Aaron's Cruis'n USA WIP Page

Here are some screenshots from Cruis'n USA. The game is getting pretty close, but there is a bug in the floating point side of things that is causing problems still. Plus, it's really slow, even just emulating the CPU. On a 2.2GHz P4, I get about 80% of full speed without rendering any polygons, and it drops down to 50% of full speed in a full scene. And that's without sound. The sound system is the DCS sound system used by the later Midway games, and it's going to hurt performance even more. You can also see how Cruis'n World is doing, which runs on the same hardware.

I know this is a love or hate game, there doesn't seem to be any in-betweens.

I like it myself, but it doesn't look like I'm going to be able to play it for quite some time. Those specs are pretty scary. :force:

It's playable now with only a few glitches, but look at the speed he's getting on a 2.2 ghz without sound!

Yes but he said that there are a ton of speed optimazations he can do. He just needed to get it emulated first.

Aaron Giles sent in a TMS32031 CPU core and Williams V-Unit driver supporting Cruis'n USA and Cruis'n World complete with perfect sound emulation. P4 - 4 GHz or Athlon XP 4000+ recommended.

Well, you could fire them in in Project 64 and play them full speed now (I believe), but this is probably using little, or no HLE at all. I suppose it would be interesting to play CW; only ever saw that at the arcades.
