New dumps by Guru

Postby adidas on Mon Aug 26, 2002 1:13 am

I see one of the boards that Guru has dumped is House of the Dead..

So how close is the DC version to the arcade? Maybe I'll go for that since wating for it to be emulated is probably just plain stupid.

The DC version is identical to the arcade version pretty much. Unlike soul calibur.

HOTD was released on Saturn, though.

I know, didnt say so because the machine in question was the Dreamcast. The Saturn ports of Model 2 stuff are pretty decent from what I remember, but they certainly aint near-perfect substitutes for the real thing like the identical hardware ST-V to Saturn and Naiomi to DC ports were.

On the topic of system requirements, ElSemi mentioned on the RG board today that the Model 2 emulator runs decent on his P3-1.4 GF2MX. Fingers crossed he puts it in a seperate emulator rather then integrating it into Nebula, I dont think even Model 2 could make me endure that godawful interface. Belmont mentioned on the MAME board that the Sys21 driver runs with 3 or 4 Frameskip on his P4-2.0, not bad considering the amount of gear that system is packing.

Makes me bloody glad that i'm going to be building a new PC with XP2000+ processor and a GF4MX card in a couple of months. :D

Well Elsemi's graphics card is probably identical to mine, but his processor is double the speed. Oh well...

Indeed, I prefer my House of the Dead games to actually to be about a House of the Dead.

Aye.

Strange story line but HOTD2 is indeed about HOTD. Although 'Dogs of the AMS, time they made a move' could do with some voice acting work. LMAO!!

LOL, its almost as bad as the voice acting from the original Resident Evil.

I never finished HOTD 2 on the DC, I kept running out of credits just as I was about to finish off that cheap bastard boss. Its bloody annoying with home ports that you can't unload your wallet into the machine to beat those sorts of fuckers like you can in arcades.

I wonder if the original running on the Model 2 emulator is going to deliberatly misread all my shots at the weak point of the armoured boss so they hit just outside of it, real HOTD machines seem to do that all the time. :D

I can complete it on the DC with 5 credits but if you wanna know how to complete it every time then play the game on the Original mode and shoot everything that doesnt move.

Barrels and crates and things contain bonus items that you can use the next time you play the game.

Things like Chamber + 4 or Gun power + 2

One of the best ones you can find which often appears in the same place is the Infinate credits item. You can only choose 2 items at the beginning of the game and once they are used they cant be used again. You gotta find them again.

ANyway, you probably already knew that. Have fun dressing up as Goldman and kicking Goldmans arse.

Speaking of cheating bosses. That damn Wizard thing with all the worms coming out of him is a real git!

I never really bothered looking at the original mode, i'm far too beardy and hardcore to not play it in Arcade mode.

The wizard thing is a right cunt, takes the piss trying to hit one of the weak points when he's zomming about around the screen and shooting fireballs at you.

Yeah damn right there Yak.

Its worth a try on the original mode though. Just so you can see the inside of the tower, fight the last boss and marvel at how corny the ending to that game is. Good---bye-----friends.

Have you tried the target practice stages Yak?

I pretty much wiped out the practice mode, but there was a couple of them that realy pissed me off. The one with the skidding cars and keeping the coin in the air were the only ones that I didnt finish on all levels and I pratically had the gun on the the TV screen to beat the barrell one on the higher levels.
