Postby RabidYak on Mon Jul 02, 2001 6:02 am

New MAME vertion came out a few minuites ago, heres the highlights -

- The proper Ms.Pacman has been decypted (didnt see that coming)
- The proper Toki and Cabal are now working
- Partial Protection fix for Avengers
- Galaxian Driver Rewrite
- Namco Arcade Classic Vol.1
- The 2 Technos WWF games
- Gun Bullet (Point Blank)
- Nebulus Ray (cool looking shooter, same h/w as GB/PB)
- Under Fire (Taito Gun game, mega processors apply only - F3 varient board)
- 25,50,75% Scanline Options
- New RGB output stuff (for TVs and Moniters I presume)

Should be entertaining to see what sort of PC you need for the new Namco stuff, ill be checking it all out tommorow.

Point Blank and WWF? Wow. Please give me a guesstimate (hate that word) on what sort of power you need to run those games, and is the new MAME available in Win32 format?

Hahaha yeah! I've been waiting for Namco Classics. I'm going to download the new MAME when I get home this afternoon and the newly supported games. I hope there's a DOS version

couldn't get Gun Bullet to even be recognized in 'mamew' but in regular DOS mame, it runs w/o sound (not emulated/supported)

full speed, PIII 550 w/64 megs

course, no lightgun means this game sucks horribly

that's the only one I tested, but if it's all the same hardware, it can't be so bad

now to try avengers!

Point Blank = what Pd said

WWF Superstars/Wrestle fest = Dunno till I try, but it probably wont be more then 300/350.

All new MAME verstions come in Win32 format as standard now (mamew). If your refering to MAME32, the interface is still being stiched onto mamew's core. I would expect to see it return in the next couple of months (or in time for 0.37 final anyway).

If you want Point Blank-style action on reasonably slower PCs, check out Zero Point. Its a shameless knock-off, but it uses standard parts rather then Namcos custom-fest.

NAC vol.2 is where its at for me (Pac-Man and Dig Dug) but looks like thats being held-over for the next Beta/RC.

Grrrrr. I can't even get Namco Classics to run. Doesn't matter to much, it runs without sound according to the info screen anyhow.

What a shitty day. This is the topper, as playing Namco Classics was the only thing I was looking forward to when I got home.

I managed to get it running.

This main seem obvious but type in the command box mamew ncv1.

Make sure you downloaded the correct ROM from http://mame.dk and it really should work. BTW how does one get the mouse working in MAMEw?

I have edited this post because the URL was not working. It amazes me when high profile sites have a host that does not support a non www URL even my humble site supports this.

Apparenty NAC uses some bizzare resoultion that doesent gel too well with DOS (512x512), try forcing some resolutions rather then using auto-detect (be careful though, dont go trying anything bizzare).

I still can't get it to run. I tried to force a number of different resolutions, but no luck.

Damian -- disable your joystick to use the mouse

A lot of the games added to this release don't have sound yet. I tried Nebulous Ray, it doesn't have any.
